Exclusive: Designers Saaksha And Kinni On Their Prism Collection For FDCI X Lakmé Fashion Week, Their Muse Sobhita Dhulipala, And More

Designer duo–Saaksha and Kinni, presented their latest collection–Prism on day 3 of FDCI X Lakmé Fashion Week. The marriage between acid-washed denim skirts, delicate  drapes and twinkling hemlines packaged the collection well. In association with electronics brand–Logitech, the designers loaned their inspiration from stylish keyboards and portable mouse from the label, alongside their forever favourite states of Gujarat and Rajasthan.

In conversation with us, the designers take us through their eclectic collection, signature embroideries, colour palette and their muse for the showcase–Sobhita Dhulipala.

Q: What was the inspiration behind this collaboration between Saaksha and Kinni and Logitech?

Saaksha And Kinni: Logitech was really a no-brainer for us in terms of collaboration. We use its products at home. We love their keyboards, we love their vertical mouse. And what they’ve introduced this season is the pop keys with the emoji, the pop keyboard with the emoji keys. We just fell in love with the colours, the finishing, the fact that you can, mix and match, emoji keyboard on the laptop, and we really wanted to reflect those colours like–pinks, purples, yellows in our collection. Like I said, they have an attention to detail when it comes to straight lines and clean finishing, and we really wanted our embroidery to reflect the same. Intricate, all hand done, hand thread work, needle work and tassels. We really wanted to reflect that Logitech is so meticulous when it comes to their designs. Hope that we’ve done that justice to this collaboration.

Q: You’ve described your collaboration as a celebration of a hybrid future of work lifestyle to make work from anywhere stylish, fun, and happy. Can you elaborate on that?

Saaksha And Kinni: I think Logitech products really reflect one’s personality. To be able to work from anywhere and still remain comfortable, is what we were looking towards. You have to have your work equipment reflecting your personality. And I think Logitech has really done that in the sense that they are happy, they’re bold, young equipments that you can literally carry anywhere and make your own workstation.

Traditionally these equipments are blacks and silvers, but as women and men, we’re experimenting with our fashion. We’re wearing bright colours and what better to match our products to our wardrobes.

Q: What about your muse–Sobhita Dhulipala’s outfit made it so different and distinct from the rest of the collection?

Saaksha And Kinni: She is amazing. We wanted her to be our muse,  and try something very different on her. Of course, having a show stopper, you want to kind of separate it from the collection as a whole. But we wanted to keep that young quotient that Logitech brings intact. So we wanted the denim, youthful fabric incorporated, but we wanted to keep the theme of the tank top.

You see tank tops from a variety of silhouettes, whether it is for men or women, itreally featured in the collection. So we wanted to bring that, but keep it really fun over the top and exaggerated. I think post Covid, everyone wants to kind of dress up and make a statement, so we are in that mindset right now.

What about the states of Rajasthan and Gujarat convinces you to gather your inspiration from there?

Saaksha And Kinni: These states are just full of so many beautiful prints, geometry, and superb designs. And also even simple things like that, traditional crushing of garments. One of our main fortes is hand micro fleeting, and I think the way Gujaratis do their pleating and ruching is just beautiful. And time after time we’ve incorporated the same. And even their needle work, leheriya, shapes, their mirror work, their attention to detail is just beyond gorgeous. We really wanted to celebrate these two states within the collection.
