“1.5 Lakhs For One Red Carpet Outfit,” Rajshri Deshpande Asks Celebs To Not Spend Too Much On Designer Clothes

Today, being an actor is not just about signing the best films and working with the most popular directors, but a lot more. The drill of being a star entails having a personal style, a social media personality, and of course a following in millions. But the fact is, will you get work with the clothes you wear, the red carpets you walk on or more? The answer is no. Ahead of the Mumbai Film Festival opening night, the actress dropped a picture of herself, wearing a white pantsuit. Attached to the picture was a well-curated caption, in which she spoke about red-carpet fashion. With celebrities who shed time, and money to get the best pictures and looks, a few also stay to keep their distance from all that jazz. In this caption, Rajshri mentioned how most celebrities spend a sum of 1.5 lakh rupees with stylists, hmu, photographers, photo correctors, and PR staff.

She further mentioned the myth that one has to wear designer stuff to gain a certain reputation. She added how most actors who cannot even afford that amount, do it because of peer pressure. Rajshri wrote–”Never forget First Your soul your craft is a brand then you your cloths and jewellery. As an actor, I can say please wear whatever you want. You are beautiful the way you are.” Unpacking the importance of your craft, and not clothes, Deshpande suggested budding actors to not spend that money on their fashion but their craft. The reality is that no good casting director will cast you seeing your designer dresses. Citing an example around the same, she mentioned how she wore a simple white pantsuit to the MAMI film festival, which was bought during her travels.
