The meme fest is bigger than ever!

Last evening was a special one for designer house–Schiaparelli as it showcased its Spring-Summer 2023 couture collection at this year’s first round of Paris Fashion Week. To mark her attendance, beauty mogul Kylie Jenner arrived at the showcase and took the front row in a rather unique attire. Picked from the latest collection, Jenner’s outfit featured a twist to a black bodycon gown. The spin was provided through a monumental face of a handmade lion. The life-size figure resembled the real creature but was a thoughtful creation made out of resin and tireless hours of embroidery.

Taking the front row, next to Jenner was American rapper–Doja Cat, who displayed her love for maximalism in a head-to-toe red ensemble. Dripping the colour, Doja seemed to have taken a dip in a sea of Swarovski crystals. And while the two managed to gather equal attention from the internet, the opulence of Jenner’s look weighed heavier than Doja’s all-red ensemble.

Besides a trail of memes, what triggered a conversation amongst nature enthusiasts was the display of faux taxidermy (the art of preserving an animal’s body for the purpose of display/decoration). Despite a mention about the false animal heads by head designer Roseberry, many tweets termed the collection as an unnecessary display of trophy hunting. And amidst all the chatter about Jenner’s outfit, which was also a member of the brand new collection, the designs seemed unbothered by the online debate and managed to provide plenty of funny comments.

The couture piece on Jenner was soon boxed into two extreme reactions, where a section of her fans called her–”iconic,” and “queen” while the rest laughed their hearts out at the look. Some also whipped out funny comments on them posing together for the photographs. Here are some of our favourite reactions.

And while thought Doja Cat looked like a used tampon, some others were quick enough to connect Kylie’s look with Narnia. Take a look.

As mentioned by creative director at Schiaparelli–Daniel Roseberry, the collection loaned its inspiration from Italian writer Dante Alighieri’s popular poem–Divine Comedy. A part of which was Inferno that depicts leopard, lion, and she-wolf as a symbol for lust and pride, as mentioned by the head designer on his Instagram handle.
