From Anushka Sharma And Ranveer Singh To Ranbir And Tabu, The Most Well-Dressed Stars At Karan Johar’s Birthday Bash

Bollywood gathered last night to celebrate the 50th birthday of our very own KJo–Karan Johar. From Ananya Panday, and Janhvi Kapoor to the OG Kajol, Rani Mukerjee and Kareena Kapoor Khan, stars arrived for the filmmaker/producers bling soirée. Loaded with sequins and glitter in abundance, celebrities opted for the brightest of fits as they arrived for Karan’s special day and well, my eyes are still recovering from all the colours and shimmer they’ve just witnessed. While everyone was bang on right and in sync with the theme, some celebrities failed to win our hearts with their sartorial choice. So, here’s a list of the most well-dressed celebrities at Karan Johar’s 50th birthday bash. Let’s dig right in.

Tabu

Starting with the OGs, Tabu stayed true to her signature sartorial style and picked a bling worthy saree to mark her attendance. Following the dress code and her closet aesthetic too, Tabu looked stunning in a Manish Malhotra electric blue sequin saree. She further balanced the bling on her saree with a pair of eardrop earrings and there’s nothing to not like about this look.

Anushka Sharma

Well, as Anushka herself said, ‘Two hours past my bedtime but looking fine,’ we say we agree Ms Sharma. Styled by celebrity stylist Priyanka Kapadia, Anushka wore a cut-out black dress by label–Elisabetta Franchi. While it definitely had no sequin bling, Anushka’s charm was enough to brighten up the ensemble. She further teamed the look with gold accessories, which we believe is always a winning combo. Well done Anushka!

Ananya Panday

While I wasn’t too surprised to see Ananya in ivory, embellished gown, ‘coz it’s always about channelling Bella, Gigi Hadid or the Jenner sisters for Bollywood’s Gen-Z stars. And well, again Ananya’s gown by designer Yousef Al Jasmi took us back in time, when Kendall Jenner appeared in a similar number for last year’s Met Gala. Well, whatever the mood board be, this look on Ananya was refreshing and definitely a ten on ten.

Ranbir Kapoor

Amongst the men who arrived in style for KJO’s janamdin, Ranbir Kapoor made sure his outfit screamed “Bachna ae haseeno lo main aagaya.” Ranbir opted for a metallic blue blazer, and matching tinted sunglasses, which he layered over black pants and a basic t-shirt. Well, he really wins my heart, every time!

Neetu Kapoor

Neetu Kapoor was better dressed than half of the Gen-Z guests at the party. Am I right or am I right? Wearing a white power suit, Neetu Kapoor sprinkled the look with some colours as she added a dainty emerald green necklace and matching leather clutch. We like, Neetu ji!

Kiara Advani

Kiara Advani managed to balance the bling in her ensemble. Showing off her prowess in power dressing, Kiara teamed a white Jacquemus blazer with a sequin, slit skirt by designer Monisha Jaising. This definitely is one of my favourite looks from the night.

Ranveer Singh

Mr Singh was high on bling but in controlled quantities. A rather basic look coming from the man who’s known for his maximalist avatar, Ranveer sprinkled some glitter on his basic black tie themed look and replaced a classic blazer with a holographic sequinned bomber jacket. We also loved Ranveer’s tiny diamond sunglasses and think the ensemble was too cool, just like you baba!

Neha Dhupia

Neha Dhupia is never off-style, then be it a Sunday brunch, lounging in her kaftan or heading for a big bash like this. Much like Anushka, Neha also trusted the classic combination of black and gold, as she opted for a cape-sleeve gown and teamed it with traditional gold jewellery and studded wrist accessories.

Tara Sutaria

Tara, uff Tara! Channelling Rani Mukerjee from K3G’s “Shava Shava” song, Tara proved no one can beat her at least in the fashun department. Wearing designer Manish Malhotra’s three piece, semi-ethnic attire, Tara’s dress screamed out loud, ‘that she truly is a Karan Johar fan.’ I mean, look at the perfectly stitched nostalgia in her ensemble. Love it!!

Kiran Rao

Another winning look from the night was brought to our screens by Aamir Khan’s now ex-wife and filmmaker/producer Kiran Rao. Giving her own spin to the bling dress code, Kiran opted for a boxy, silver mini dress and teamed it with the fab-fab Margiela Tabi two-toed boots. An understated glimmer we were waiting to see last night, Kiran was bang on with every element in her ensemble, especially her footwear and blue-dyed hair.

Navya Nanda

While mom Nanda–Shweta Bachchan failed to dance to the tunes of the theme, (except for the red Converse she wore), her daughter Navya Nanda channelled a pretty yet powerful look. Navya’s white pantsuit, with a mini blazer vest and dainty jewels, was a rather decent look, but was a good break from all the bright shades and shimmer that the fellow invitees wore.

Ayushmann Khurrana

Khurrana sahab looked hawt and how, for the big birthday bash, and there’s no way we can complain about this look. Wearing a black pantsuit, sans shirt (which is wow), Ayushmann trusted the power of accessories and opted for a chunky silver chain to finish off the look. Lajawaab!!

Mouni Roy

Ms Roy arrived with her husband Suraj Nambiar for Karan’s 50th birthday celebration. Dressed in a strapless, sheer floral gown, which I think was a good twist to the dress code. The floral embroidery throughout the fabric gave a hint of colour play to the nude-coloured lining and Mouni smartly balanced the entire look by staying away from excessive accessorising.
