Janhvi Kapoor’s Custom MiuMiu Saree For TIFF 2025 Was ‘Pretty’ Forgettable. Here’s Why

After creating mesmerising fashion memories at the Cannes Film Festival, Janhvi Kapoor has landed at TIFF 2025 for her film Homebound. The actress arrived in style with Ishaan Khatter and Vishal Jethwa. And for the main show, chose a custom Miu Miu saree with the classic black and white polka dots. While she made quite a splash on the red carpet with her beauty, the overall ensemble failed to make a mark, at least for us. Read to know our opinion!

Janhvi Kapoor At TIFF

Janhvi Kapoor arrived at TIFF 2025 in a custom Miu Miu saree gown, a delicate attempt to marry traditional Indian craftsmanship with European couture flair. The ensemble featured a flared hemline and a sculpted one-shoulder silhouette, cinched at the waist with a subtle golden brooch, a nod to understated elegance. Her beauty was soft and effortless: tousled waves, a dewy glow, flushed cheeks, mascara-kissed lashes, and a natural lip lent her that signature Kapoor freshness. A twisted side-parted hairstyle added the final touch of sophistication, making her poised for a potential orange carpet moment.

And yet… it didn’t quite land. The saree, while technically flawless, lacked the drama, narrative, and visual punch we’ve come to expect from Bollywood stars on international red carpets. The delicate polka-dot pattern, though refined, blended quietly into the festival’s fashion landscape, and the fusion of traditional and contemporary elements felt safe rather than daring.

The Homebound actress made a good impression at TIFF 2025 with two ensembles styled by Rhea Kapoor. The first was an Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla design, a vivid resham saree with a jamavar-inspired print that honoured India’s textile heritage. In her second appearance, she channelled worldwide fashion tradition in a strapless gold gown from Prada’s Spring 2004 collection, which combined saree-inspired fabric with Western designs.
