Harry Styles’ Gucci Collection Has Grumpy Teddies, Fruity Cherries And Crisp Lapels

Harry Styles is a true blue Gucci boy and his Gucci gang, consisting of the luxury label’s creative director– Alessandro Michele, has a surprising news for us. After a million collaborations, with the luxury label, the “Sign Of The Times” singer has turned into a designer himself, to now dress his fans in his favourite brand.

Yes, the Harry Styles X Gucci collection is here and it has got me all ‘Ha Ha Ha.’ Don’t worry, I ain’t laughing at the designs, but it’s the title tickling us all hard. Revealing the collection at a special press conference in Milan, Alessandro talked about his latest partnership with Harry. According to these pictures on Gucci’s official Instagram handle, one thing is sure, both Alessandro and Harry’s creative aesthetic is a match made in heaven. Labelled with the collaborations’ funny title ‘Gucci Ha Ha Ha’ the collection incorporates a mix of crisp signature formals and angry marshmallow teddy bear lockets. It pretty much is a closet, Harry would own, if living in a corporate cubical. While the collection is a mix of muted shades, golf stripes and cute bow-ties, what makes its name both interesting and meaningful, is its shared emotion between Gucci’s Alessandro and Mr Styles, also their initials.

This also brings the two powerhouses to a common point, where their cherished conversations about life, style and aesthetics find a tangible expression, that is well nurtured and exchanged. Expressing the idea of a collaborated, creative effort, Alessandro shared his thoughts in the caption, “The idea of working together came to me one day while we were talking on the phone: I proposed creating a ‘dream wardrobe’ with him, starting from those small oddities that come together in childlike visions.”

While the collection to many speaks about the Gucci’s signature design language, married with Harry’s penchant for suitings and motifs that narrate a tale, the range loans few elements from 1970s pop and classic bohemian nuance, all re-shaped into a modern-day men’s tailoring. With silhouettes like old-school power suits, ancient bow-ties and striped socks, reminding us of the classic cuts in menswear, the colours that they come dipped in, and the prints, especially of cherries and teddy bears, that they flaunt, are what revise and refresh the classics. What the Gucci creative director, hopes to narrate through this collection is a love letter to vintage and rock idols of the time.

Remembering the iconic dressing styles of men from the specific era, the range including sweater vests, plaid coats, retro heart Chelsea boots, pinstripe shirts with dramatic lapels, cowboy scarves and a lot more, are much like references turned into reality for the capsule collection. It is indeed a celebration of the most eccentric men from the time gone by, and about their signature silhouette that is still a piece of delightful memory.

What’s also interesting about this collection, that yes also took a lot of time to arrive on our screens, is the marriage between vintage classics and childlike motifs. Ranging from grumpy teddies, and fruity cherries, to printed briefcases, these little elements give the classic menswear a refreshing update. And well, for those who can’t wait to grab a piece from this spectacular range (including us of course), you might just have to wait a little longer till the month of October, of this year.
