Who Inherits Giorgio Armani’s Billion-Dollar Fashion Empire After His Death?

Giorgio Armani, who died at 91, was not only a fashion designer. He revolutionized the way the world dressed through his smooth lines, gentle tailoring, and refined simplicity. Since the 1980s, his fashion has dominated Hollywood, corporate America, and even athletic wear. His fortune today is worth close to 12 billion dollars, but who will keep it going? Read on to know more.

Who Was Giorgio Armani

Born in Piacenza, Italy, in 1934, Armani began his career as a window dresser before entering the world of fashion design. In 1975, he launched his own label, Armani S.p.A., which quickly established its reputation for deconstructed jackets and a contemporary, ageless style. His designs were worn by famous Hollywood stars as Richard Gere, Cate Blanchett, and Leonardo DiCaprio, serving to solidify his international reputation. He then diversified into perfumes, hotels, and home decor, making his name a complete lifestyle brand.

Who Will Inherit Armani’s Billion-Dollar Empire?

Giorgio Armani never married and had no children. Instead, he formed close bonds with his inner circle. His niece, Roberta, the daughter of his deceased brother Sergio, emerged as his closest business partner. Roberta, a former would-be actress, assumed public relations and became the link between Armani and Hollywood’s A-listers.

But he left succession to no single individual. His sister Rosanna, niece Silvana (president of womenswear), nephew Andrea, and his longtime partner Pantaleo “Leo” Dell’Orco (president of menswear) were all designated as important people to carry out his vision in the company.

The Giorgio Armani Foundation

To secure his legacy, the designer established the Giorgio Armani Foundation in 2016. The framework guarantees that his business is not dependent on others and avoids a shock sale or stock flotation. His family members and partners shared his shares, while the foundation served as a buffer.
