From Katrina Kaif To Anushka Sharma, 5 Sabyasachi Brides We Loved And How!

Designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee is synonymous with Indian bridal wear. A name that often finds a mention in many celebrity weddings, the couturier’s aesthetic defines the cultural Indian roots in the most unique ways. From regal fabrics, unique silhouettes and beautiful designs, each piece is heirloom-worthy and there’s no debate about it. And when it comes to dressing up popular stars for their big day, the celebrated artist seems only a call away. Curating excellent pieces for Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone and Anushka Sharma as they walked the aisle, each piece still makes it to many inspiration boards for to-be brides.

Katrina Kaif

The most recent addition to Sabyasachi’s long streak of celebrity brides. Katrina Kaif’s wedding lehenga was a classic example of the designer’s bridal couture. Opting for her most favourite shade of red, Sabyasachi Mukherjee incorporated the entire ensemble with an ornate blouse, featuring tilla embroidery, a sheer dupatta with the traditional kiran gracing the borders, as an ode to groom Vicky Kaushal’s Punjabi roots. She completed the ensemble with the designer’s heritage jewellery including the statement temple matha patti, neckpiece, earrings and custom-made kaleera with a special message. A true example of the Sabya bride, Katrina Kaif picked the designer’s unmatched creations throughout her wedding festivities.

Priyanka Chopra

Opting for an all-red lehenga for her special day, Priyanka Chopra’s Sabyasachi ensemble included a mono-sleeve blouse, ballgown-esque skirt and a sheer red veil with a thin layer of red sequins around the border and butis spread across it.
Replete with delicate hand-cut organza flowers, french knot, thread work and sequins, the overall look was curated keeping in mind the two cultural amalgamations with Indian bridal couture meeting with European couture. Customising the ensemble for the actress, the designer inscribed Priyanka, Nick Jonas and the former’s parents’ names around the waistband that made it even more special. Completing the look with traditional Indian jewellery with 84.5 kt of pear-shaped diamonds set in 18 Kt white gold for the long neckpiece, she also added a nose ring with chooda, and customised kaleere.

Deepika Padukone

Designing for one of the biggest celebrities of Bollywood, Sabyasachi crafted a red ensemble for Deepika Padukone as well. Honouring the couple’s cultural backgrounds, Deepika Padukone opted for a crimson and gold lehenga for her Sindhi wedding ceremony which was the Anand Karaj. The classic ‘Sabya red’ lehenga featuring peacock motives was paired with a chowki design aari-taari dupatta, completed with a heavy border that highlighted the saying inscribed around the four sides, ‘Sada Saubhagyavati Bhava’ (may you forever be married) written on it in Devnagri. She paired the entire look with a huge nose ring, statement maang tika, chooda and rings from the designer’s heritage jewellery collection.

Patralekhaa Paul

Just like many celebrity brides, Patralekhaa Paul too was a red Sabya bride as she tied the knot this year with actor Rajkummar Rao. Opting for the designer’s creations, the actress wore a beautiful red tulle saree with ivory butis spread across the drape. Added to the minimal look was a sheer red veil that had Bengali text running across it that translated to ‘I offer my heart, filled with love, to you.’ Accessorising the attire with Sabyasachi heritage jewellery, and a set of ‘shakha and pola’ bangles to symbolise the Bengali bride, each piece in 22 kt gold with uncut diamonds was added to draw a contrast in the colour palette.

Anushka Sharma

Offering a brief break from the list of red brides, Anushka Sharma’s whimsical pastel themed lehenga is still so fresh in our minds. The actress opted for a blush pink lehenga in silk floss with significant motifs of birds and butterflies, laid well through thread work. Complementing the pale pink skirt was the sheer veil with hand-embroidered borders and jewellery including a statement matha patti, a choker, a long necklace, with jadau jhumkas and a huge nose ring.
