FDCI X Lakmé Fashion Week Day 4 Delivered Everything From Glimmering Gowns To Sporty Athleisure With These ’It’ Accessories Rising Above All

Day 4 at FDCI X Lakmé Fashion Week 2022, delivered a bit of both glimmer and athleisure. From designers Taun Tahiliani, Shivan And Naresh, Pankaj And Nidhi to Ananya Modi Jain, the runway yesterday was all about, easy prints, fringes, sangeet wear, to tonnes of reds. And here are the many showcases that caught my attention.

Eshaa Amiin

Designer Eshaa Amiin’s showcase was all about colours in abundance that settled well with breezy blue denim. Sporty and vibrant, Eshaa weaved the right amount of quirk into her line-up that made a statement with bold zippers, colourful shapes and blue multi-braids. Titled– ‘Deconstructed Geometry’ the collection was filled with bustier tops, flouncy maxi dresses, asymmetrical jacket openings and oh-so-cool bucket hats.

Punit Balana

Designer Punit Balana played the perfect Rajasthani host for the invitees who took a seat to witness his design magic. Tapping to the tunes of Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s “Kinna Sona Tenu,” Punit’s collection, titled– Lakshmi managed to blend both cultural and contemporary essence, with vegetable-dyed printed skirts paired with scarf-top esqué backless cholis and sheer dupattas. Flagging off a new hair accessory trend through his line-up, Punit added magnificent gold bells in all shapes to fishtail braids pulled off by the models. Replete with metallic embroidery, Punit’s muse for the showcase actress– Janhvi Kapoor paraded in a deep red lehenga choli with hair styled into soft curls and tassels added to her backless choli.

Prreeti Jaiin Nainutia’s Nirmooha

One of my favourite showcases from the day, everything from Nirmooha’s  studded evening wear was refreshing, all thanks to the choice of muddy hues that replaced party staple reds. Titled–’Ancienne’ Prreeti played heavily with beaded tassels, studded sunglasses (which btw is going big this year) and disco boots. Longer slits, waist cuts, and sequinned bodysuits headlined the collection.

Ranna Gill

Ruffles, bows and balloon sleeves delivered a great show with the ‘Casablanca Calling’ collection by Ranna Gill at FDCI X Lakmé Fashion Week. Venturing into experiments with jewel tones, cross string necklines and puff shoulders, with each piece significantly distinct from its design family, Ranna rooted for the traditional Uzbek motif and worked around fabric options like– silk, linen, lurex, velvet, cotton and more. Taking cues from the cultural nuance of Morocco, Ranna displayed a variety of bustier, corset dresses, wide-legged pants and stunning scarves. All and all, a good start to summer.

NBA 75 X Ananya Modi Jain

Designer Ananya Modi Jain displayed a slice of youthful designs and comfortable athleisure through her NBA 75 collection. Titled– ‘We’re All Mad Here,’ Ananya’s winning collection for the 75th anniversary of the league was displayed on Day 4 of FDCI X Lakmé Fashion Week 2022. From customising zipper tags, graphic t-shirts, oversized jackets to funky hoodies, Ananya’s collection was entirely all-weather, reversible and versatile. She played around neon greens, and sequinned motifs gracing the jacket backs, with garments that drew inspiration from the basketball court’s floor plan.

Pankaj And Nidhi

The spectacular designer duo played with sheer cutwork embellishments, flower attachments and two-three dimensional embroidery to the summer collection. Titled–’Marbella,’ coral colours became the highlight of the line-up that included, voluminous sleeves, mini dresses, off-shoulder necklines and printed pantsuits that offered a mix of fabrics. An ideal holiday wear, the display was replete with the designer duo’s latest obsession with 3D appliquéd flowers and exaggerated handwork.

Bata X Suneet Varma

Bata X Suneet Varma hosted a disco dance of designs for their latest showcase at FDCI X Lakmé Fashion Week. Exhibiting a line-up of garments that included everything from fringes to sequins, the glimmer king, designer Suneet Varma’s collection–’The Eternal Lightness Of Being’ was youthful, but not refreshing. Playing around with mirror laden textiles for bodysuit cut-outs, Suneet experimented with origami for statement belts, and fabrics like crinkled chiffon, organza and georgette.

Shivan And Narresh

Shivan And Narresh decided to host a party right inside the pool, and yes I loved the energy and how! With a set-up that mirrored the interiors of a blue swimming pool, invitees took a seat to witness the designer duo’s latest collection. Inspired from the Shekhawati Havelis in Rajasthan, the two curated interesting hand-painted prints which rested on semi-sheer shirts, bomber jackets, quilted pants and more. Using a sequinned rope as the cherry on the top, every piece from the garments to the bags featured the stylised rope in stunning shades. Channelling the trendiest style of the year–extreme cut-outs, Shivan And Narresh made sure to incorporate them in swimwear and while attempting to play with fabrics. And serving as the perfect muse for the collection was Miss Universe Harnaaz Sandhu, who paraded in a red velvet dress, and I only hoped for more surprises.

Tarun Tahiliani

Grandeur at its best, Tarun Tahiliani’s latest collection was a blend of bold black, regal copper, and pale gold. Presenting his Luxury Pret line, Tarun’s showcase set-up filled the room with folk music, blending together with a mix of cultural and modern-day silhouettes. Tarun further sprinkled more glitter through studded hair bands, box clutches, and delicate studded matha pattis. While inclusivity was mildly infused in the model line-up, actress Kriti Sanon turned showstopper for Tarun Tahiliani’s regal collection. Arriving in a stunning black car, Kriti walked the runway in a black, form-fitting corset, long fishtail sequinned skirt, and a sheer dupatta that appeared like wings on her back.
