5 Times Alia Bhatt Re-styled Her Old Clothes For A Brand New Look

Alia Bhatt is the flag bearer of conscious fashion. From building a conscious clothing brand to re-styling jewellery and outfits from her old closet, Bhatt remembers to pick and wisely choose, instead of aimlessly shopping. The actress’ love for the little details was also visible at her wedding, where she upcycled her mehendi outfit. Previously at sister-in-law Anissa Malhotra Jain’s Godh Bharai ceremony, the actress again picked her RajiRamniq kurta for the family get-together. Not just this, but many instances in the past have proved the actress’ drive to always be a conscious closet owner. Hence, we’re looking at our favourite sustainable fashion moments by Alia Bhatt.

1. Mehendi Lehenga

For her intimate mehendi function, the actress picked a custom-made lehenga by designer Manish Malhotra. The beautiful pink lehenga by Malhotra featured a layer of approximately 180 textiles patches, loaned from the actress’ treasured collection of old lehenga, sarees, kurtas and more. The mixed media design was a sustainable piece for the special day, featuring Chikankari and Kashmiri embroidery, wrapped with fabric pieces including aari work, block prints and more. These pieces from her old closet were cut and re-shaped for the designer skirt, teamed with her favourite infinity blouse.

2. Anissa’s Godh Bharai

Yesterday the Kapoors gathered for Armaan Jain’s wife–Anissa Malhotra’s Godh Bharai ceremony. For the special function, everyone from Kareena Kapoor to Alia Bhatt chose delightful ethnic wear and posed with the fam. In pictures, we spotted the actress posing with the parents-to-be in a velvet kurta. The RajiRamniq printed kurta was earlier styled by Bhatt during the promotion tour of her Netflix film–Darlings. The actress picked the same kurta from her closet and gave it a desi twit with a polki, emerald-encrusted maang tika. The same maang tika was worn by Bhatt at her intimate mehendi ceremony. For this look, Alia styled the moon and star kurta sans earrings and left her hair loose. Well, that’s a great way to re-style your old outfit.

3. Deja Vu

In the previous year, the actress re-styled one of her old, maxi dresses for a special meeting with director–Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The printed, mauve and red dress with flared sleeves and a wide neckline was re-styled by Alia, with a pair of white heels. The same outfit was first worn by the actress during the Christmas celebrations at her home in 2018.

4. The Bag Story

The Gangubai Kathiwadi-star has often expressed her love for quirky bags. Do y’all remember her vibrant yellow clutch that said–”Happy?” Alia styled the same clutch not twice, but thrice for several different occasions. Once with a rainbow, sequinned skirt, next with pearl-embellished denim jeans and the third with a striped coordinated set. In an attempt to infuse some colour play, Bhatt masterfully accessorised the look with this bright yellow clutch.

5. Denim Delight

Alia Bhatt is a keeper of classic closet staples. One of which is her stack of denim jackets. Making sure she repeats, and re-styles these staples, the actress picked her two-toned white and light-washed blue denim jacket for two different occasions. Once, she picked it for her airport look, teaming it with a pair of black pants, edgy leather boots and retro black sunglasses. For look two, the actress dished out a denim-on-denim look, by styling the jacket with a pair of distressed denim jeans.
