India’s Fav Monkey Cap Goes Global With Dolce & Gabbana. The Price Has Left Twitter Shocked!
Monkey cap ke bhao badh gaye!Does it piss you off when high-end designer brands make basic pieces look fashionable with their sky-high price tags. I mean, with most pieces that throw practicality out of the window, designer labels have often become a subject of mockery for selling products at unreal costs. And when the design matches with something as basic as monkey cap, you can’t shed a bomb amount in a blink. Right? Italian luxury fashion house–Dolce & Gabbana is on the radar for selling a ski-mask cap which is nothing but our beloved monkey cap.
As worn by most Indians during this season, monkey cap AKA bandar topi is a common form of a winter hat, used to cover head, half a face and neck from the chilly weather. And picking a similar designer, and calling it a Khaki ski-mask cap is D&G’s collection of winter accessories. Well, as soon as the product from the designer house’s website caught the internet’s attention, many joked about the label and especially the price tag on it.
Dear @dolcegabbana we get it at any railway station in India for 50 Rs pic.twitter.com/K9JlDUu61i

Netizens on twitter gathered to mock the brand for selling a monkey cap at a whopping amount of Rs 32,000. Which was discounted price of the original cost of Rs 40,000. Many Indians called out the brand and shared sassy reactions on Twitter. While some told D&G about the same design being sold at Indian railway stations at Rs 50, some others listed down the many reasons to why they would not purchase this D&G cap.

This should be the cap's starting price in order to stop parents from buying it against their kids' preferences.

Besides joking about the price tag, some users also walked down the memory lane, and reminisced their childhood days. I still remember how I would always argue with my mom, about not putting that ugly monkey cap, no matter how cold it gets. And see, the humble monkey topi is on Dolce & Gabbana’s official website, and being sold at the prices of our lives. What’s next for high fashion?
