In an attempt to pay homage to the country, and its craftsmanship, which Chiuri has always been in awe of, the Dior showcase will be brought to life at the iconic destination. The setting is designed to put the spotlight on Maria’s long-lived and loved partnership with a Mumbai-based atelier, and craftsmanship school for women–Chanakya. As seen through the previously displayed works by Dior, the Chanakya school has played an imperative role in taking each of Dior’s crafted pieces to the road of excellence.

In her statement to BOF, she revealed the show is a personal appreciation for all that the country has to offer, and how some of the greatest minds from the Chanakya school, have always helped shape her creativity. The school is run by Karishma Swali, who previously partnered with Maria, for a variety of embroidered backdrops, designed for Dior’s spring-summer 2022 collection at the Musée Rodin in Paris.
