Bride Gets Late Father’s Handwritten Message Embroidered On Wedding Veil To Feel His Presence! It’s Beautiful

Bride Gets Late Father’s Handwritten Message Embroidered On Wedding Veil To Feel His Presence! It’s Beautiful

A bride’s wedding lehenga, commemorates utmost significance on her special day. From the colour, embroidery to the silhouette, every piece is weaved together to bring to life, a bride’s dream outfit. But with each passing year, the idea of that perfect bridal lehenga has changed. Opting for designs that stand apart from the crowdfunded trends, and narrate a tale, dulhans today are weaving emotions, stitch by stitch, instead of a gazillion sequins. Unique in every hem, custom-made designs are taking over the Indian bridal space, one bride at a time. And serving as a great example is the story of bride Suvanya, who tied the knot with Aman Kalra, in an intimate wedding ceremony in Rajasthan. In the world, where many brides opt for OTT designs and the trendiest embroideries, Suvanya got a piece of her heart stitched to her D-day outfit. In memory of her late father, the bride converted excerpts from his handwritten birthday letter into the embroidery of the veil. Fencing the palla, one amongst the handwritten extract read as, “from my heart to yours.”

Sharing a beautiful video from the day, Suvanya mentioned, “For my birthday last year, papa had written a letter to me. He carefully crafted it with utmost honesty and love in an attempt to convey what I mean to him. The effort he made is beyond me. He chose to write the same letter in both blue and black ink giving so much thought to what I’d prefer. I got it framed and I would read it every time I felt alone. I think it’ll take me a while to read that letter again. We lost Papa to cancer in May this year and the emotional turmoil of not having him around will always get to me. Logical or not, I really wanted to feel his presence at the wedding in a way that I can always hold onto, just like his letter. And so I decided to get his words from my heart to yours embroidered on the veil of my lehenga.”

Wearing a beautiful romantic red ensemble from the shelves of designer Sunaina Khera, bride Suvanya’s wedding outfit was indeed special. Ditching heavy jewels that remain constant in a wedding wardrobe, Suvanya opted for fresh flowers and a simple pendant for the day.

Offering a sense of belongingness, brides today are opting for veils that are crafted of a story. Be it the popular wedding lehenga of actress Deepika Padukone, who wore a beautiful Sabyasachi ensemble with her dupatta bordered with ‘Sada Saubhagyavati Bhava’ (may you always stay married) or celebrity bride Patralekhaa Paul’s bridal veil that read as, ‘Aamar poran bhora bhalobasha aami tomaye shomporno korilam,’ (I give to you my soul filled with love), bridal veils hold a special significance today.

From paying homage to age-old cultural roots, just like actress Katrina Kaif, who opted for the traditional Kiran around her Sabyasachi veil, as an ode to her groom Vicky Kaushal’s Punjabi roots, or actress Priyanka Chopra who stunned in a Ralph Lauren ensemble for her white wedding, with ‘Nicholas Jerry Jonas’ (her husband’s full name), ‘1st December 2018’ (their wedding date), ‘Madhu & Ashok’ (the names of her parents), ‘Om Namah Shivay,’ ‘Family,’ ‘Hope,’ ‘Compassion,’ and ‘Love,’ inscribed on her veil, the modern bride presents a blend of traditional and contemporary designs.

An overlooked accessory that certainly found its way into wedding wear, bridal veils today embody the values of the bride wearing them. More than just a piece of cloth, every corner of this head gracing dupatta becomes a memoir for many years to come.
