Yearly Rewind: Masaba Gupta’s 2021 Wardrobe Was Food For The Fashion Soul!

Masaba Gupta has been making waves in the fashion universe with her ideologies and statement designs. Crowned as the king of quirky prints, her brand House Of Masaba has carved a niche audience for itself. Defying the odds and defining her own rules, designer Masaba Gupta is not only a successful entrepreneur but walks her talk when it comes to dressing up too. Vocalising her thoughts and winning hearts, what specifically made it to the headlines in 2021, was the multi-hyphenate star’s weight transformation (a path she took to be her healthier self and not for looks) and a totally reinvented closet. Adding her favourite flavours of fashion to a well-structured wardrobe, Masaba Gupta’s newly constructed line-up of outfits was daring and tailor-made to leave a powerful mark. Making the gram, accustomed to some experimental looks, her style has certainly evolved for the better. Documenting each time, she dressed and had us applaud, here are our favourite looks from the designer’s 2021 closet. Have a look!

Goddess In Gold

Hands down, a ten on ten look, that deserves to top our list of favourites, the halter neck gown drips gold. Wearing designer Rani Zakhem’s creation, who never shies away from testing new fabrics and textures, this metallic gold number featured a high-on ruched midriff and a sharp glimmer. Pairing the effortless fall, with statement molten gold rings, and an arabic winged eyeliner, she braided her look with the big hair aesthetic (queen alert). A dream-like fierce image, we did not expect was coming our way, Masaba Gupta has already set the benchmark pretty high (unmatchable too).

Pale & Perfect

A pale brown colour palette never looked this glam and godly. Clubbing two shades from the neutral zone, the ensemble is what we call a silent fire. Polished and sprinkled with the charm of gold, the Skims bralette in the shade ginger bread brown feels at ease when teamed with a custom-made beige skirt. Styled by Chandini Whabi and Stacey Cardoz, Masaba adds the signature Shoplune jewels for a tinge of sparkle (wow, this look is chef’s kiss).

Catwoman Much

Rejoicing the Catwoman aesthetic, Masaba nodded yes to the black glam. Styling the custom-made sheer, wrap skirt with a Shivan & Narresh leather corset, the war of textures is appealing enough. Daring to reintroduce the lost charm of leather hand gloves, with well-kept sleek hair, her take on the classic black is sexy and sassy (only if I could fit myself in that gorgeous corset).

Go All Out

A colour spree to hop onto, Masaba Gupta stunned in a gorgeous skirt and bandeau choli from her brand’s latest collection. Sporting a sorbet lehenga with a pocket (that’s a dream come true), she styled the raw silk multi-colour skirt with a heavily embroidered, cross back blouse with no added accessories. A fresh addition to the usual festive wear, the colour trio compliments the bold leaf motifs, making it a one of a kind piece.

Powerful In Pink

Embracing femininity with a powerful silhouette, Masaba Gupta’s Oud pant-suit is a great take on the bubble-gum hue. A shade that has been a constant staple in many wardrobes, this marriage of pink and a pantsuit brings together rare and roaring energy. Embodying the youthful punch of the silhouette, Masaba added a pair of coral blue Public Desire heels and her favourite molten gold accessories from Misho Designs (superwoman much).

Acing Electric Blue

With motifs that speak and colours that shine, Masaba Gupta flaunts her love for dramatic designs in the electric blue saree from her inhouse brand, House Of Masaba. Wearing a design that states “all eyes on me,” the crinkle palla crepe saree from her brand’s festive edit is fun and fearless. Embellished with foil details, what made the look striking for her insta-fam was the blue kohl eyeliner defining her bottom lid (all hail the queen). I am so impressed.
