Paris Fashion Week is back for another round. With trends being served on the runway, last night turned into a special one for French luxury brand–Balmain. Titled Balmain Festival, the spring-summer 2023 collection showcase of the brand took place in a massive rugby stadium. With creativity at its peak, designer Olivier Rousteing’s brand new experiments with designs, loaned inspiration from African references. The conversation around colour served as beats for the parading models. The colour palette for his latest fashion outing was a mix of sugarcane yellow and rustic brown. With silhouettes, Rousteing prepped up a structure like art. On the awkwardly walking models, we spotted the new range that was only a percent sustainable.

This time, fabrics came running from banana, chestnut trees and paper, and it truly showed in the garments. Concept skirts, matching mesh blouses and fan shoulders headlining this new-age couture looked innovative. Footwear too replicated the design drama, as seen on the outfits and incorporated a heavy range of crisp pleats. For Rousteing, the colour talk was an important subject to follow up on.

Besides the spectacular exhibit, what had the audiences cheering for Balmain was a surprise walk by Cher. The American singer chose the runway and the label to revisit us. Now, 76, which doesn’t show on Cher, the singer paraded on the runway, with a closing act. Much like the icon that she is, Cher arrived in a fitted, catsuit that reminded us of her sartorial niche. The futuristic silhouette resembled the colour midnight blue and the skin-tight fabric was moulded well into a conceptualised skeleton to fit the singer like a glove. She also made sure to match her makeup with the shade, for some extra spark.
