Alia Bhatt Is Falling Hard For Bandhani And We Can’t Help But Love Her In All Its Shades!

Alia Bhatt Is Falling Hard For Bandhani And We Can’t Help But Love Her In All Its Shades!

Gone are the days when bandhani was restricted to fancy ghagra choli for annual garba events. The textile today has crawled and carved a space in many closets. Also known as bandhej, this oldest form of tie-dye, dates back to 5000 years from now, limited to being an heirloom dying recipe owned by the Khatri community from Kutch, Gujarat. Imprinted on beautiful vibrant shades, bandhani is now blooming as Bollywood’s newly found love. Spotted on actresses like Deepika Padukone, Kangana Ranaut and Sara Ali Khan, the textile has been shaped and tamed to bring back the cultural charm in the modern world. But apart from this interesting roster of celebrity names who have been loving and draping bandhani in their own stylish ways, Alia Bhatt’s wardrobe is in a mood to endorse bandhani a little too much.

Spotted donning silhouettes that cater to every kind of dresser, Alia Bhatt’s line-up of ethnic wear is biased for bandhani. Clubbed with rich embroideries and patterns, the dotted fabric makes up for the breeziest traditional fit. Flaunting her love for bandhej once again, Alia Bhatt opted for a sunset-hued, Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla design for a promotional event for her upcoming release RRR. Featuring a double shaded red and yellow colour palette, and a spicy red blouse with a spread-out version of the fabric, she paired the drape with gajra gracing her hair and a set of temple earrings maintaining a beautiful blend of simplicity and sophistication. Adding an element of quirk, the saree came bordered with an orange and red checkered patti, that injected  a silent colour play. A timeless style for all kinds of tastes and sizes, the saree comes handy for shoppers who would like to try out the traditional dye for festivities.

Another piece from the RRR actress’ closet that took over the internet, was her purple Sabyasachi bandhani lehenga. Wearing the design from the modern master of the age-old craft, Alia Bhatt gave a contemporary outline to the fabric. Featuring a deep V-neck, backless dori and a skirt, the two-piece set came with an attached rust gold border gracing the lehenga fall and mono sleeves. Adding a hint of colour, she teamed the all-purple colour palette with a pair of orange Sabyasachi earrings. Breezy and beautiful, the look is youthful yet ethnic.

Keeping up with her bandhani streak, the actress opted for a Sabyasachi design back in the year 2019. Donning a regular silhouette that graces many closets across India, the kurta and palazzo set is one of the most obvious choices of traditional wear. Wearing the beautiful green-on-green outfit, she punctuated the look with statement gold chaandbalis to match the thin layer of gold patti fencing the dupatta. Relying on her signature go-to makeup, the ensemble is effortless and a no-brainer when styling ethnic wear.

Sporting another gorgeous number by designer Sabyasachi, Alia Bhatt donned a playful version of the age-old craft while promoting her 2019 release Kalank. Wearing the piece from the designer’s ‘Kashgaar Bazaar’ collection, the co-ord set featured an off-shoulder neckline and a patent Sabyasachi belt to start with. Garnishing the familiar leheriya fabric with a fresh stitch, the deep red skirt and top set, serves best to shoppers who are looking for fuss-free classics. Adding a little drama with statement gold chaandbalis, she kept her make-up minimal with mascara being the highlight of her face. The ensemble is fun and festive as it caters to the appetite of buyers, looking for the traditional fabric in an unconventional cut-out.
