’83’ Premiere: Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt And More Bowled Us Over With Their Looks

Post an adventurous string of years like 2020 and 2021, start-studded premiere nights are finally back. Capturing some of the best in business who walked the red carpet all dressed up, the premiere night of the much-awaited film, Kabir Khan’s 83, the story of when underdogs India won their first-ever cricket World Cup in 1983 under the captaincy of Kapil Dev, was nothing short of a grand event. From Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Alia Bhatt to Janhvi Kapoor, the film’s cast and invitees shined in black alike. Have a look!

Deepika Padukone

Shining like a true-blue movie star, Deepika Padukone opted for a custom-made blue attire from designers Gauri And Nainika. Featuring a plunging neckline and a long train, the much minimal and elegant velvet outfit was accessorised with a statement diamond neckpiece that embodied an emerald drop. Borrowing inspiration from the 80s, the actress kept her short hair in the usual locks and went all out with the dual winged eyeliner.

Ranveer Singh

Donning an all-white ensemble, the actor brought in the mild funky in him for the big night (which is rarely the case). Matching his intricately pleated white blazer with a shirt in the same shade, the bow tie and shoes punctuated the all-white look. Donning his patent red-tinted sunglasses and hair tied in a ponytail, Ranveer Singh dressed well to stand out for the special night (which he anyway would, because of his onscreen performance).

Alia Bhatt

Wearing a sequined black mini dress that peeked through the massive black cloth tail, gracing the side panels, Alia Bhatt shined at the premiere night, but I’m not sure if her dress did. Styled by celebrity stylist Lakshmi Lehr, Alia Bhatt opted for an all-glam look, to match the shimmer on her dress. Wearing smokey eyes and nude lips, she carried off her brunette curls.

Janhvi Kapoor

Keeping up with the streak of black alongside other invitees, Janhvi Kapoor opted for a rather simple look. Dressed in a velvet, off-shoulder black gown, with a pair of diamond studs in the name of accessories, the look was quite disappointing, coming out of a star who is very well known for her sartorial picks (I mean, you could do so much better).

Ayushmann Khurrana

Known for choosing some really out of the box scripts and outfit combinations too, Ayushmann Khurrana upgraded the 90’s sheer ganji (Bollywood’s dearest fashion trend). Pairing the shimmery see-through blue ganji with a sequinned blazer and a pair of wide-legged pants, the actor made a mark with his fashion sensibilities yet again.

Karan Johar

Getting the big party started, Karan Johar was spotted wearing Dolce & Gabbana. Sporting the luxury brand’s ensemble head-to-toe the producer/director accessorised the all-black oversized pantsuit with a diamond-encrusted cross pendant, a unique gold belt that replicated a zipper pattern and his patent black frames, that added an edge to the entire look. Quite a stunner number, KJo!

Richa Chadha

Wearing the AM hue to the premier night, Richa Chadha’s choice of shade came in like a breath of fresh air amidst the black lineup. Wearing a lavender playsuit, layered over a pink bralette, she paired her outfit with matchy-matchy heels, something she should’ve given a second thought to.

Vaani Kapoor

Dressed the retro way, Vaani Kapoor made an obvious choice with the polka dots but her silhouette came in like a surprise. Wearing a black bralette on polka printed wide-legged pants, the Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui star said no to accessories and topped off her look with a pair of black pumps.

Based on India’s historical 1983 Cricket World Cup win, the Kabir Khan directorial 83 will hit the big screen on December 24, 2021.
