Mother’s Day: Fun Things You Can Do With Your Mum At Home And Make Her Feel Extra Special This Year, ‘Cause Quarantine!

Moms are simple creatures–easy to please and make happy. It doesn’t take expensive gifts or much effort to bring a smile on her face (she’ll love the gifts, though), but thoughtful gestures and some time from your packed schedule would be enough to make her feel special. For all that she does, she deserves it not just on Mother’s Day but all days of the year. However, some extra show of love on special days is non-negotiable. A couple of years ago, taking her for dinner date or a spa day would have been the perfect Mother’s Day activity, but since it would be another year in quarantine this May, you can plan an equally fun day at home.

Whether you have a gift in place or not, you cannot let her spend the day just like her regular one. Plus, it’s Sunday and gives you two the perfect opportunity to spend some quality time and indulge in the things you both love. While you can watch a movie together or order from her favourite restaurant and give her a break from kitchen duty, there are some really fun things too that you probably have never done before that she would love. Try these cool fun-filled activities this Mother’s day that you can pull off at home and make this day extra special for her, even in quarantine.

Nothing compares the time spent with your mom and sisters (if you have) chatting over tea and indulging in some R&R on weekends. Take this day to unwind by slapping face masks on and spend hours talking with your mom. You can teach her all that you know about skincare that has got you obsessed while she can tell the age-old beauty practices from her days. It’s incredibly fun, trust me.

Recreate a makeup look

Okay, this one’s for moms who are true sports and are up for being glammed up and getting a makeover whenever offered. You can recreate a makeup look she likes (her favourite actress from the 80s) or simply give her a nice makeover that she always wanted. The best thing is, even if you are not really good at it, she will still appreciate it and you both will have a great time doing it.

Twin with your mum

Twinning with bae and BFFs is passe. Why not twin with your mom instead? She is basically your first BFF and forever bae. You can get cute mom-daughter graphic tees online or buy the same kurtas in your sizes. If it’s too late to buy matching outfits, don’t worry. Simply wear PJs and basic tees in the same colour or a colour contrasting outfit to twin with your mum.

Do a photoshoot

With all her social gathering shelved, we are sure she is terribly missing getting dressed and getting those compliments from her friends. Mine definitely does so I know. Plus, all mums love dressing up and getting clicked. You can score a fun mother’s day shoot at home with her or just click her for her social media and get ample double taps and comments. Disclaimer: you might be asked to change her DP too, afterwards.

Manicure Sesh

What’s the one thing she would not ask from you but would love to do with you? Any beauty activity in the world, literally. Give her a manicure at home since she wouldn’t do it herself, nor would she ever ask you. You could show her your mani skills and maybe add-in some beautiful nail art that she can choose from Pinterest or Instagram. She would not stop gushing over it to all her friends.
