Sohum Shah told us about his first experience in Mumbai. Back then he was a kid who was a big fan of the king of romance, Shah Rukh Khan. He reached the city with his passion and big dreams in his eyes so, Sohum directly landed from Sri Ganganagar, his hometown to Mumbai. This was a huge step for him because, before this, he had literally, never even gone out of his hometown. But like many of us who have big dreams and the courage to chase them, Sohum Shah came to Mumbai.

During those early years, Sohum Shah had a very different idea, for which now he calls himself ‘naive’. His idea was to star in a music album and after it, he believed that he would be spotted as the next Shah Rukh Khan. But then he got to know that these sudden changes are possible only in movies, real life’s different and “aise nahi Hota hai ‘‘After the brutal realisation hit him, he went back home. Like many of us who dream big but don’t have everything planned out, Sohum Shah was exhausted too.

But, once you take a step towards your dream it’s very hard just to let it go. Sohum Shah also had that “keeda” which kept him interested in this filmy field. So, even though he had gone back the first time, it was in his destiny to live his “Sapna” in this city of dreams. Therefore, despite having a successful real estate business in Sri Ganganagar, he reached out and made a name for himself in the world of films. He managed to do what everyone thought was impossible because he pushed through his fear. Sounds genuinely inspiring, doesn’t it?

But the most interesting part of it all was when he told Pavni about his stage fright. He said that he never did theatre as a kid because “stage pe chaste hi change kept this“. Isn’t this completely unexpected, coming from a wonderful actor like him? But, it’s our fears which make us a little bit more interesting, don’t they? Sohum Shah exclaimed that he feared the stage so much that when his film Tumbbad was nominated for awards in various award shows, he used to think “human na mile” because he used to fear getting on the stage and giving a speech or thanking everyone for the award. This made me laugh out loud because if I was in his place I would be doing the same thing.
