For Delnaaz Irani, this big break came from the movie Kal Ho Naa Ho in which she played the character of Sweetu, the best friend of Preity Zinta’s character. Now, the actress recently appeared on the latest episode of Hauterrfly’s Yeh Ladki Pagal Hai, and shared her feelings about still being vividly remembered for her role as Sweetu, and also shed some light on being typecast in many movies that were offered to her after Kal Ho Naa Ho.

Sweetu, the bubbly and cute character from Kal Ho Naa Ho has been etched in the minds of Delnaaz Irani’s fans and followers, and she is still referred to by this character. Talking about this on episode 38 of Yeh Ladki Pagal Hai. Delnaaz Irani expressed her happiness in getting such a dhamakedaar debut in films. She also said that it feels great to be remembered by the audience for your very first role and that it happens to very few actors. However, Delnaaz Irani also added that sometimes she feels that the shift needs to happen since it will almost be 20 years of that film and that she was also very young during the film. The role of Sweetu came unexpectedly she said, and also added that the importance of the role was understood her many years later.

Yeh Ladki Pagal Hai host, Pavni Mehrotra also asked Delnaaz Irani about being typecast after the movie. To this, the actress replied that in present times, she feels bad about it, but back then it was just “Work” for her to which she never said no. Elaborating on this, Delnaaz Irani also talked about the current era in which success and fame come easily through social media, but in the past years, actors had to be consistent with their hard work to be loved by the audience. And Delnaaz Irani continues doing that hard work to stay relevant in the current times.
