About Lara Dutta In Ramayana

In the trailer, we could see Queen Kaikeyi’s costume (Lara Dutta) was seen donning a maroon saree with a green blouse. Her hair looked straightened out with a side-comb and minimal jewellery. While some viewers did not think much of it, others raised concerns over the this appearance and stated that it was “too modern” for a character from the Treta Yuga. It soon became a huge talking point from the Ramayana trailer with many even comparing Dutta’s look to Ekta Kapoor’s TV serials. One user pointed out that plain raw silk sarees with stone embroidery was used in the Treta Yuga, while another questioned the perfectly starightened and side-combed hair of the actor in those times.

One user on X (Previously Twitter) pointed out that Lara Dutta was instead looking like she was in a TV serial advertisement and not in Ramayana. For the unversed, she is playing one of the crucial character in Ramayana whose decision leads to Lord Rama going into exile. While the trailer did not show much glimpse of Dutta’s character, this brief appearance has already sparked a heated debate online social media about the authenticity and some creative liberties taken by the filmmakers.
