Will Smith’s Mother, Carolyn Smith Expresses Surprise Over Will Smith Slapping Chris Rock
I think we can all agree that no matter how long you have known someone, they always have it in them to surprise you. If I were to give you a real-world example, it would be my mother and me. Safe to say she has known me the longest and yet, there are certain things that I say or do that completely catch her off guard. I guess it is safe to assume that Will Smith’s mother, Carolyn Smith, experienced the same thing recently when she saw her son slap Chris Rock before the entire world and she has decided to talk about it.
Will Smith’s mother, Carolyn Smith was excitedly watching the Oscars and waiting for her son’s nomination to be called out. However, I am certain that she did not expect to witness Will walk up to the stage out of the blue and slap Chris Rock for mocking his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head.

Expressing how the slap was a surprise Carolyn said, that Will is a “very even, people person,” and it was the first time she had ever seen him go off like that. Will’s sister, Ellen Smith also weighed in talking about the pressure he is under because of his celebrity status. According to CNN, she said, “Everybody has been bullied or abused in some kind of way.” she further added that she understood his reaction.

Ever the proud mother, Carolyn Smith spoke about how Will’s Oscar winner was a result of years of hard work and hope. She said that she was waiting and went “Yes!” the moment she heard Will’s name. How adorable!
