In a recent turn of events, the legal war between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni is not over, even after settling. On Monday, June 1, the former’s lawyers returned to court and sought a judge’s order requiring the latter to pay her legal bills and other penalties. They made their case by stating that she was entitled to this under California law, since Baldoni’s countersuit, alleging she defamed him, was dismissed last year. This law is for the protection of s*xual harassment from protracted and damaging legal fights.

Amid this, Justin Baldoni’s team countered it as Lively trying to make an “end run” at a trial that was cancelled when they agreed to settle this. They stated that reopening this would lead to discovery and new depositions. None of them was present for this hearing before US District Judge Lewis J Liman in New York. For the unversed, in 2024, before the release of their film It Ends With Us, the two actors began this battle with Blake claiming that Justin made inappropriate comments on her appearance while also violating physical boundaries while filming a love scene.

The actor also claimed that Baldoni pushed for n*dity against her wishes, after which he denied all these claims and stated that she made all these claims to get the creative control of It Ends With Us. He then countered against her and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, accusing them of defamation and extortion.
