At PIFF, Vidya Balan Talks Women-Centric Films And Who Inspired Her To Be An Actor

As there are more talks and efforts to promote women’s empowerment, this change is quite evident in the film industry too. Now three are exceptional films being produced with actresses leading them without any heroes. There are female directors making class-apart films. Actress Vidya Balan is one such actress who has set a perfect example in delivering women-centric films. She was recently present at the 21st Pune International Film Festival (PIFF) where the Kahaani actress put forth her clear views on the progress of women-centric films and also talked about female directors.

Vidya Balan has always impressed her fans and movie lovers with her choice of roles and films. She has never backed out from trying roles that are challenging and unconventional. At the Pune International Film Festival (PIFF), th actress also said that she always asked the directors to give her roles that have not opted for in the past. The Jalsa actress who was particularly present to speak at the ‘The Challenges of Female Actors in Entertainment World’ event of this festival gave her views on women-centric films. Vidya Balan said that since the audience is more inclined towards watching good content and there are so many options, female-centric films are performing wonderfully!

Vidya Balan also made a revelation at the event when she spoke about the actress who inspired her to enter the world of cinema. It was the gorgeous Madhuri Dixit who mesmerised Vidya Balan with her charming performance in Tezaab’s song ‘Ek Do Teen’.

As per reports, Vidya Balan also spoke in length about the point of difference between male and female directors. Elaborating on the same, the Sherni actress said that a women-centric story can also be narrated exceptionally by a male director but the difference lies in the perspective. She further said that a female director will look at a woman from what she is, but a male director might always look at her from the POV of the relationships that she shares, as a mother, daughter and so on, as per the news.

The actress herself set an example by showing the audience that at the end of the day, it’s just the content that speaks for itself. She has given some memorable films like Sherni, Jalsa, Kahaani. Begum Jaan and Tumhari Sulu among others. All the films had a one-of-a-kind story to tell.
