Uorfi Javed took to her Instagram and reacted to this disturbing comedy skit by Madhur Virli and questioned how it was okay to make r*pe jokes. She slammed the comedian and asked him to hire “some females” in his team to get some sense, and we agreed! The footage is from 2024, where Madhur said that the reason r*pists murder women after r*pe is that they might ask to “cuddle.” Just writing this is making our blood boil, so a simple apology from Madhur was definitely not enough. Making jokes about such sensitive issues makes us realise how much such men need to learn. More popular faces must call this out so that they don’t normalise this.
All this started right after comedian Pranit More received backlash after he uploaded a crowdwork video glorifying harassment and r*pist mentality. After the controversy blew up, More made a video apologising for his remarks and for giving a platform to such a mindset. Amid this, a report by the Telegraph revealed that Pranit and Himanshu Jangra were summoned by the Maharashtra cyber police for allegedly disseminating objectional content online. The official report stated that the viral Rs 370 biryani story by Himanshu hinted at entitlement of physical intimacy in exchange for money, portraying women in a demeaning way.
