One of the most-awaited and biggest nights in the film just dropped their list of potential bests and we can already hear the chatterings around it. Yep, I’m talking about the 94th Oscars Nominations Show that was presented by Tracee Ellis Ross and Leslie Jordan and revealed the highly anticipated nominations for the 94th Academy Awards. To say that the decision between the nominations is going to be a tough one, would be an understatement. Why? Well, because the nominations for Oscars 2022 are simply incredible – The Power Of The Dog, Dune, Belfast, West Side Story, Liquorice Pizza, Don’t Look Up, and the list goes on. But that’s a story for March 24th, 2022. I’m here to tell you that with the nominations out, one of the directors just scripted Oscars history. Yes, folks, I’m talking about Jane Campion, the director of The Power Of The Dog, who created history as she became the first female director to hold two Oscar nominations in the Best Director category!

Jane Campion bagged her first nomination for the Academy Awards back in 1994 for her film The Piano, and now history has repeated itself when she got nominated again for Oscars 2022 for her Netflix film The Power Of The Dog. In fact, The Power Of The Dog bagged nominations in 12 different categories.


As per reports, Jane Campion made history as she now holds two Oscar nominations for Best Director after she was previously nominated for The Piano in 1994. In the category of Best Director, she is competing with Steven Spielberg (West Side Story), Kenneth Branagh (Belfast), Paul Thomas Anderson (Licorice Pizza), and Ryusuke Hamaguchi (Drive My Car).

Honestly, it fills me with pride to know that no matter what industry, women are coming out on top and creating history with every passing year. In fact, this news has made me even more enthusiastic about watching the Oscars that is all set to be held on March 24th, 2022.
