One of the more recent hilarious happenings on the world wide web was when people were memeing on this pattern everyone had noticed where Leonardo DiCaprio breaks up with how girlfriends when they turn 25. And as hilarious as that was, it is pretty apt to assume that society usually treats women as if they come with some sort of expiry date. As if we are going to shrivel up and die the moment we hit 30. And with that comes the pressure of getting married on time, having children etc. Shruti Haasan has also been on the receiving end of this mentality when she was told that she should be married as she is in her 30s. Her response will leave you in splits!

Shruti Haasan spoke to The Male Feminist host Siddhaarth Aalambayan about the time when she was told by a man she was working with that she should get married as she is already in her 30s. She then went on to say that this man was someone from her own field who was going to get a commission from the money she was making for him. Shruti said that he then said that she should also get married as she is in her 30s already. Shruti then ridiculed him asking if he received a memo she missed that “we should be shipped off” or “that this milk has gone bad” referring to his sexist and regressive opinion on when she should be married. And to be honest, her frustration is so valid!

Shruti Haasan isn’t the first woman who has had to deal with these kinds of intrusive and unnecessary questions regarding their age and marriage that has nothing to do with them. And the audacity of a man who she is working with to point this out. Firstly, isn’t that inappropriate? And also, not really his business?
