‘The Male Feminist’ Ep 5: Isha Koppikar Calls Out Men Who Call Women ‘Gold Diggers’ But Marry Them For Their Looks
Gold digger – this term is so commonly used for women. It takes people all of 5 seconds to term a woman a gold digger for something as simple as marrying into an affluent family or for seeking alimony during a divorce but when a man picks and chooses a woman before he ties a knot, no one says anything to him. No one terms a man a gold digger for marrying a woman from an affluent family. And it’s really time we evaluate what and who we term gold diggers in our society. Recently, in a conversation with Hauterrfly’s Siddhaarth Aalambayan on Episode 5 of The Male Feminist, Isha Koppikar Narang spoke about how women are quickly termed gold diggers but men get away with questioning everything from looks to the background of women.
Speaking to Siddhaarth on The Male Feminist, Isha Koppikar said, “Men evaluate a woman and check her height, skin colour, background, finances and everything before they marry a woman but why is a woman looked down upon and it’s said that she might have married the man for the money or for her career. They say she might have married him for some benefits but why? Men don’t marry for their benefit or what? A woman who marries into an affluent family is called a gold digger, why? So, when a man marries a woman for how she looks, what is he? He’s just marrying somebody for the way she looks. Ek aurat bas ek photo frame mein chipka ke rakhne ke liye hai?”

We like Isha Koppikar’s point. We love how she has questioned the people who marry women for their looks and then blames women for marrying into affluent families and terms them gold diggers. She has made some valid points and called out society’s double standards.
