The Male Feminist: “Men And Women Should Not Conflict But Complement Each Other,” Says Digangana Suryavanshi

Men and women in our society are always pitted against each other because of the patriarchal mentality. There have been fewer occasions a woman is considered to be equal to a man in terms of capability, intellect and opportunity. And when feminism as a movement came in, people began to see it as an excuse for women to bash men, which is not what it stands for. This is exactly what Digangana Suryavanshi has cleared the air about in the latest episode of The Male Feminist. In a candid conversation with host Siddhaarth Aalambayan, Digangana said that men and women were never meant to contradict each other, but were supposed to complement one another!

Talking about how earlier women were not allowed to work in the film industry, Digangana Suryavanshi said that people did not have the mindset that women can work, too. She, then, said, “Biologically and naturally, men and women were not supposed to conflict each other. They are meant to complement each other.” She also said that if men and women wage a war against each other on who the superior gender is, ‘we will end up in crisis’.

The Seetimaarr actress also gave an example of how if there are two doctors – one male and the other female, the job should not be given on the basis of gender but on qualifications. She said, “Koi agar distinction create karta hai on the basis of gender, that’s wrong.” She also made a hard-hitting point that feminism does not mean that women hate men. Digangana said, “We can’t. We are supposed to be cordial.’

Digangana Suryavanshi made a strong point here. Men and women were fundamentally never supposed to fight against each other for power. They were supposed to be equal in all aspects of life. But as society began to civilise, men began to venture out to hunt and women were only expected to take care of the house and nurture babies, and this notion was carried generation after generation.

On the work front, Digangana has a couple of projects in the pipeline. Some of her upcoming projects are The Battle of Bhima Koregaon and Dark Path.
