Meryl Streep Finally Reveals Release Date For The Devil Wears Prada 2 And We’re Excited To The T!
The wait is finally over for fans of The Devil Wears Prada as Meryl Streep has officially announced the release date of the sequel!

The wait is finally over for fans of The Devil Wears Prada as Meryl Streep has officially announced that the beloved sequel will open in theatres on May 1, 2026, seizing what previously was Marvel’s prized summer release position. The movie, a sequel to the popular 2006 film, has now snagged one of the year’s largest box office dates. This comes after Disney’s big reshuffling happened and Marvel Studios delayed its expected movie, Avengers: Doomsday, to December 18, 2026, due to production delays.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 Has A Release Date
This decision left the coveted May position wide open, and Miranda Priestly has moved in to fill it. And moreover, when Avengers: Secret Wars also shifted from May 2027 to December 17, 2027, Disney created a release void which was immediately filled by The Devil Wears Prada 2. The original Devil Wears Prada, which grossed more than $326 million worldwide and became a cultural touchstone, featured Meryl Streep as the domineering editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly. Streep returns for the sequel, along with original director David Frankel and screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna. Producer Wendy Finerman is also returning.
Plot details are finally being revealed, and the sequel will supposedly delve into the changing dynamics of the media landscape. Miranda is allegedly struggling with the fall of print publishing and dealing with new corporate power dynamics, including a showdown with her former assistant Emily (played by Emily Blunt), who is now a player in the advertising industry. Emily Blunt has made a few cryptic hints at a return to the series, but Anne Hathaway’s participation has yet to be confirmed. Meanwhile, Stanley Tucci, who portrayed the treasured art director Nigel, hinted at a possible comeback in an interview, quipping that to speak any further would “incriminate people.
With the release date now set in stone and its main creative crew back, The Devil Wears Prada 2 is ready for a blockbuster box office opening(we’re hoping it does). It’s almost two decades since Miranda uttered, “That’s all,” but it’s obvious she’s just getting started.
Fashion changes quickly, but this sequel is strutting into the scene right on schedule.
