A historical drama is my ultimate favourite when I want to keep my mind engaged. More so when it has some murky political twists with the royalty involved. Created and written by Peter Morgan and produced by Left Bank Pictures in association with Sony Pictures Television for Netflix, The Crown is a political drama series inspired by the real-life events of Queen Elizabeth II. It showcases a dramatised version of the life of the royals led by the Queen into the 21st century. And guess what? The series is all set to return with season 5. The trailer of the much-awaited series dropped earlier last night and we just cannot wait for The Crown season 5 to hit our Netflix screens on November 9.
As international politics gets murky, Queen Elizabeth struggles to keep her head above the water as trouble hits her home as royal scandals take a toll on her reign. While Prince Charles pressures the Queen to allow him to divorce Diana, the Princess puts on her revenge dress and takes control of the narrative as she exposes the cracks in the Queen’s reign. There are a few things about this trailer that have us waiting with bated breath for season 5 of The Crown. This season seems to focus on Princess Diana and her journey as she struggles with her mental health while coming to terms with her husband’s betrayal. More importantly, the trailer shows us a glimpse of how she overcomes it and puts on her revenge dress. The trailer also shows her speaking to the media as she plans to expose the cracks in the House of Windsor amid the political turmoil in the country while breaking the royal protocols.

Will The Crown Season 5 Highlight Mental Health Issues?
From the looks of it, The Crown 5 might focus on Princess Diana’s journey and her battle with mental health. While this show may be a dramatised version of real-life events, the trailer gives us an insight into Diana’s mental health problems as she comes to terms with the realities of her life and the pressures of being a royal. For the unversed, in real life too, Princess Diana had admitted to suffering from depression and “rampant bulimia”. There were reports that the Princess engaged in self-harm. Even in a time when people shied away from seeking help, Princess Diana not only spoke about her mental illness but also advocated for mental health.
