Zoya Akhtar’s musical comedy-drama film The Archies starring Khushi Kapoor, Suhana Khan, Agastya Nanda, Yuvraj Menda, Vedang Raina, Aditi Saigal aka Dot., Mihir Ahuja and more is all set to release on December 7. Ahead of the release, the trailer of the film dropped earlier on Thursday. The trailer introduces all characters and their complex relationships and then goes on to showcase how the group of teenagers come together to bring a change and make a difference and fight for what they believe in.

The trailer of The Archies opens with Yuvraj Menda’s Dilton Doiley questioning what the teens have done in their lives so far. The introduction scene gives us a glimpse of the small hill town of Riverdale. The trailer then goes on to introduce Vedang Raina’s Reggie Mantle as he talks to his father about his love for comedy while Agastya Nanda’s Archie Andrews discusses his passion for music with his parents. It also gives us a tiny glimpse of Khushi Kapoor’s Betty and Suhana Khan’s Veronica and their friendship. Psst…we also spotted Archie asking Betty for a date but we know it’s all going to get complicated with Veronica around!

The trailer then delves into when reality strikes this small town. The group of teens are on the verge of losing Riverdale as they know it because of capitalism but they’re not ready to be told that “kids don’t count”. The Archies further showcases how the group prepares to fight for a cause close to their heart and change the world.

My Take On The Archies Trailer

While I love how this film is all set to take us back in time to Riverdale and hit us with the nostalgia of the comic book, I wonder if the debutants will be able to do justice to their characters and if Zoya Akhatar will manage to explore each and every character and their complex relationships with each other in roughly 2 hours. We’ll just have to wait and find out when The Archies releases on Netflix on December 7.

NGL but I love how the filmmaker has recreated the magical town of Riverdale and made us all want to just vicariously live through the characters of The Archies. I mean, the trailer makes us feel like being transported to the town from the comic book. What’s even more amazing is that the dialogues have my attention. Seriously, Suhana Khan’s Veronica had me at “Riverdale ko bhi yaad rakhna chaiye na ki Veronica is back” and OMG, the moment when Archie tells her that he always has fun with her and she responds by saying, “Me too. I always have fun with me.” TBH, Veronica totally stole the show for me.
