Thalapathy Vijay has recently shifted his focus to politics, and he also participated in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. But ahead of the polls, the actor turned politician made headlines for his personal life. Going by the reports, his wife, Sangeetha Sornalingam, filed for divorce from him. However, the actor chose to remain silent on the matter.
The First Meeting
Thalapathy Vijay and Sangeetha Sornalingam met in 1996. The duo has an interesting story behind their first meeting. Sangeetha has come to meet Vijay from London after his film Poove Unakkaga performed exceptionally well. The two gradually came together, and the actor introduced her to the family. The two got married in 1999 August 25. And they are also parents to two children, Jason, Sanjay and Divya Shasha.
Wedding Details
Thalapathy Vijay and Sangeetha Sornalingam had their wedding as per the Hindu rituals. However, post-marriage, Sangeetha Sornalingam has maintained a distance from public life, and the couple maintained it for their children too.

Divorce
Recently, an ANI report suggested that Sangeetha Sornalingam has filed a divorce case from her husband in the Chengalpattu family court. The reports also suggest that the divorce has been filed on grounds of an extramarital affair. The petition reportedly mentioned that the affair was with an actress, and it also caused embarrassment to the children, as per the reports. Both of them have been summoned by the court on June 15. Neither of them has made any comments regarding the same.

The Affair Rumours
Amid the divorce reports, many claims and rumours were made about Vijay Thalapathy’s reported affair with actor Trisha. The two were also spotted together, giving more air to the rumours.
