Tanishaa Mukerji On Depression And Menopause

On being asked about the influence of social media, beauty standards and the filtered world, Tanishaa Mukerji responded, “Firstly, I don’t believe in age. I say that in the Bhagavad Gita or Ramayana, is it written how old was Sita when she gave birth to Luv and Kush? Who said how old she was? Did she go through menopause? Firstly, I find the word menopause rubbish. But I think a lot of people will say that information is very important for women and all these mood swings. My opinion is that the society that is being formed today is basically a corporatisation model of governing. Corporates do research, and through that research they sell the medicines to us. And to sell those medicines, we will now dig up symptoms.”

“Let’s make up depression. Not that it is not happening. I am not saying that its not necessary and that people don’t get depressed. But it is just that we are going out of spirituality. We are going towards medicines. Its written in our Vedas and shastras. Yoga, breathing—they do breath work in LA now. In India, there are so many techniques of Kriya. But we are not following all that; we are taking pills. Let’s go to the doctor. I’ve got a headache. I need a pill.” Further, the host talked about menopause bothering women. In response, she added, “I think what’s happening now is that they are highlighting a lot. They are enhancing it a lot and making it a problem. It’s not a problem; its a natural course of life.”
