Sydney Sweeney Says She Can’t Afford A 6-Months Break From Work. Girl, You Better Be Joking With That First World Problem!
With the current inflation rate and the upcoming recession, we’re all bracing ourselves for financial trouble. As a financially independent woman, I understand financial troubles but what I do not understand is Euphoria actor Sydney Sweeney’s money problems. Recently, the actress opened up about how she’s not earning enough as she has to pay her lawyer, publicist, manager, hair and makeup artist and other staff. Sydney Sweeney also pointed out that if she wanted to take a 6-month long break from work, she wouldn’t be able to afford it because she isn’t being paid enough. And TBH, all this sounds tone-deaf to me.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Sydney Sweeney opened up about her struggle with money problems, her middle-class upbringing and the class divide that she feels. The actress revealed that there was a time when she had to live in a single motel room with her parents and brother when she moved to LA since they couldn’t afford the expensive real estate. She shared that back then she would take up any and all small assignments and some would barely pay her $100 per day. Speaking of her struggles with finances, Sydney said that if she wanted to take a 6 months break, she won’t be able to cover it because she doesn’t have that kind of income or someone supporting her and paying her bill. Well, woman, we cannot even afford a week-long break, forget 6 months. Not only is this statement tone deaf but it also sounds like rich girl problems. It reeks of privilege that we regular people do not have.

Discussing her pay, Sydney Sweeney said that HBO doesn’t pay actors as well as it used to earlier while adding that she has to pay a percentage of her income to her lawyer, agents, business manager and other staff while maintaining her image with a team of stylist, hair and makeup artists, travel etc., which goes from her pocket. The Euphoria actress confessed that her lifestyle is what motivated her into taking brand deals and campaigns and that’s how she is able to afford her lifestyle in LA. FYI, she owns a home in the city.

Wahh, in a time when most people are unable to even pay their bills and rents due to the rising inflation, we have an actress complaining that she cannot take a 6 months break because she has an entire staff that she has to pay. Well, if that’s not a rich girl privileged problem, we don’t know what is. Also, we regular people also don’t have someone to support us and pay our bills. Most of us haven’t taken even a week-long break in years because we cannot afford one. For someone who is reported paid $25K for every single episode of Euphoria, allow me to tell you that some of us don’t even earn that much in a month. While you have a staff to pay, we have mouths to feed along with bills while most of our income goes into healthcare, rent, repaying debts and whatnot. We commoners may not have a “lifestyle” to maintain like you but we do have a life to live which requires money which means that we have to maintain our jobs and keep at it with no breaks whatsoever. Also, even with all that, we cannot afford to buy property in LA or Mumbai! All this is GOLD coming from someone who has a net worth of about $4,000,000.
