Sunny Leone Says She Was Upset No One Stopped The Humiliating Bhupendra Chaubey Interview

I think it is safe to assume that Sunny Leone has not been exactly looked down upon kindly. Admittedly, I was pretty prejudiced when she first came to Bollywood as well. Well, I was a child with no concept of individual opinions. However, as I have grown older, I have learned to put aside these prejudices and actually look at her as the amazing woman she is. I believe my perspective changed after I saw how classily she handled the very disrespectful interview she had with Bhupendra Chaubey in 2016. In a recent interview, Sunny Leone opened up about that interview and the effect the experience had on her.

It has been years since the interview but the sheer disrespect and discomfort that Bhupendra Chaubey caused Sunny is still palpable every time I watch even a clip from it. He asked all types of intrusive and inappropriate questions regarding her career in the adult film industry. Sunny recalled the experience in an interview with Bollywood Bubble and said, “My first reaction is not to have a reaction. But later on of course it affects you. I would not be human if it did not affect me,” she added, “You don’t feel good there is literally not a lot of people you can speak to about how you are feeling. on how someone treated you.”

Sunny Leone spoke about how no one came to her aid to stand up for her despite there being rows of people at the set. Sunny said, “This was on multi-levels of feeling hurt. The biggest question afterwards–there were rows and rows of chairs and people sitting in that room.” When no one stopped Chaubey’s inappropriate probing she asked, “Did I hurt you in any way?’ ‘Did you not think it was okay to come and stop this?’”

When talking about the effect this interview had on her she said that it took her a long time to snap out of it. She spoke about how no one on set stood up for her and came to her aid. As a woman, I cannot imagine how humiliating and disgusting that must feel. Sunny said, “These people hated me or said bad things about me for years and now someone bashes me on television,” She added, “now I am ok and now I am accepted. I was the same person before. So, great that they recognise that ‘Hey, I am a person.’ But it really did hurt me.”

Well, can she be blamed? I have watched clips and the whole interview on multiple occasions and still cannot get over how gross Chaubey’s mentality was going into this interview. I will always commend Sunny Leone for how smartly and classily she handled this because I would have definitely lost it.
