Sony Pictures Announces Screen Adaptation Of Iconic ‘Shaktimaan’, To Cast A Superstar For The Role

To be very honest, we had the best TV shows in our childhood. Every day, our eyes used to be glued to the screen to watch our favourite shows. And guess who was our first favourite superhero? The answer is none other than Shaktimaan. The show ran on DD National from 1997 till the mid-2000s featuring Mukesh Khanna as the superhero and his alter ego Pandit Gangadhar Vidhyadhar Mayadhar Omkarnath Shastriji, a geeky photographer who works for a newspaper. And now we have got the most exciting news, Sony Pictures International Productions just announced the film adaptation of Shaktimaan. The 90s kids are so excited!

On Thursday, Sony Pictures India announced that it has signed a contract with Brewing Thoughts Private Limited and Mukesh Khanna’s Bheeshm International to bring the popular show Shaktimaan to the silver screen. Sony Pictures International Productions has acquired the movie adaptation rights of India’s classic and most loved superhero – Shaktimaan. According to the reports, the makers are planning to reimagine it as a superhero trilogy and looking for a top Indian actor to play the role of the superhero. Sony Pictures shared the big news on their social media platform along with a short teaser, “We are excited to join hands with Brewing Thoughts Private Limited, and Mukesh Khanna’s Bheeshm International. Get ready for #ShaktimaanMovie; more details coming soon. Are you excited?” They also shared a short teaser on the social media platform and wrote, “After the super success of our many superhero films in India and all over the globe, it’s time for our desi Superhero!”

The TV also featured Kitu Gidwani, Vaishnavi Mahant, and Surendra Pal in pivotal roles.  The popular show ran for over 450 episodes on DD National and had a massive fan following, especially among children (including us).
