Many people know that Soni Razdan is Alia Bhatt’s mother and filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt’s wife. But apart from that, she is also a talented actor who has immensely contributed to the Indian film industry. She recently looked back at her journey and revealed that she is still a struggling actress despite everything. Additionally, she also stated that her looks may have played a role in it. Soni Razdan Says She’s Still A Stuggling Actress!
Soni Razdan recently had a chat with Galatta Plus during which she was asked who she was apart from being Alia Bhatt’s mother and Mahesh Bhatt’s wife. She answered that she was a struggling actress, and after she tied the knot with the filmmaker, she was still a struggling actress, and the same was the case when she became Alia’s mother. Soni mentioned that she was an actor who really loves acting, adding that she has had the opportunity to work with some wonderful people and some wonderful directors. She further stated that it wasn’t a smooth ride for her. According to her, if she had looked much more “Indian”, it would have been a lot easier. Soni doesn’t think that she’s lacking in the department of talent. However, she added that perhaps it was her unusual looks that didn’t fit her, and perhaps, if she had been 25 today, that wouldn’t have been an issue. She recalled that when she was 25, that was the hurdle she had to face.
Soni Razdan On Facing Reality
Further in the conversation, Soni Razdan stated that she started with theatre and she always thought she would be a theatre actor, not realising that theatre doesn’t give you any money. Very soon, the actor realised it and had to come down to reality. She expressed that becoming a film actor was never just about being a glamorous face on screen. Soni wanted to be recognised for her performances, and she wanted to be known as an actor rather than a “glam doll”.
For the uninitiated, Soni Razdan made her film industry debut with the 1981 release 36 Chowringhee Lane. She was most recently seen in Netflix’s Shaque: Trust No One.
