Exclusive: Sonam Kapoor Gets Candid About Pressures Of Appearance During Pregnancy: “I Was Shooting For Koffee With Karan And My Ankles Were Massively Big”

Speaking about the pressures of navigating societal expectations and pressures related to appearance during pregnancy, actress Sonam Kapoor shared an interesting stance. In an exclusive conversation with Hauterrfly at the The Moms Co. event, the actress shared mindful advice with expectant mothers.

She said–”You just need to feel that you’re comfortable in your own skin and even if you’re not fake it till you make it.” Citing an example, Kapoor also mentioned–”I remember I had to shoot for a Koffee With Karan episode during my nine months of pregnancy and my ankles were massively big and I just wore a black gown and I tried to be as comfortable and sit up straight as much as I could and I winged it.”

Well, that’s so true. I mean for women experiencing constant media scrutiny, it can often be a daunting task to maintain an image or just be in your own skin. With pregnancy/maternity fashion being the new FAD, being pregnant and also being a celebrity absorbing media coverage can often be a stressful task, that no mother-to-be would wish to take on. Sonam throughout her pregnancy and after giving birth has never shied away from conversations around body image, struggles, postpartum challenges and a lot more. We want to see more mothers taking it easy when it comes to struggling with societal pressures.
