‘Shehzada’ Trailer Made Us Go ‘Hain?’ And Left Us Wondering What Is Even Happening!
What is even happening in the trailer?
Kartik Aaryan broke the lull that Bollywood was experiencing post-COVID-19. With his film Bhool Bhuliayaa 2 breaking records and becoming one the highest-grossing films after the pandemic, Kartik was deemed as ‘Shehzada’, the knight in shining armour who revived the industry! While everyone was thinking that this is just a sweet nickname given to him, he announced a film with the same title. Shehzada starring Kartik in the titular role is a Rohit Dhawan directorial that also stars Kriti Sanon, Paresh Rawal and Rajpal Yadav in prominent roles. This film is the Hindi remake of the 2020 Allu Arjun starrer, Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo. Shehzada trailer of this film was dropped today, and here’s everything you need to know about it.

The first 15 seconds of the three-minute-long Shehzada trailer is all about Kartik Aaryan breaking people’s skulls, punching, kicking and flying people around as if they weigh nothing. And then Paresh Rawal, who plays his father, introduces Kartik as someone who wants to be a lawyer. The setting gives a hint that he is from a middle-class background.
Kriti Sanon is Kartik’s ladylove, who is also a lawyer by profession. They seem to have the typical lawyers’ rapport, enemies in the courtroom and friends or in this case, lovers outside. Then, Kartik gets fascinated by a huge white mansion that Pareshji describes as ‘swarg‘. And from the revelations, it is learnt that well, Kartik is the asli chirag of this bada ghar and Ronit Roy is his real father, not Paresh Rawal.
The rest of the trailer is all about Kartik hitting on Kriti, beating more bad guys and back-answering Paresh like he did not raise him all this while!

Okay, we get that Kartik is her ‘hero’ of the film but the makers should have given her more than a single dialogue in the trailer to get to know her character better. Given that she is a lawyer, she should have spoken more. This brings me to my next point that the Shehzada trailer is very confusing! There is no head or body to this trailer and we jump through different scenes that are not coherent with each other.
Plus, Kartik and Kriti did not have as much chemistry as we were hoping it would reflect from the trailer. There’s just Kartik flying in the air a lot, smoking cigarettes the fancy way as he beats the crap out of the bad guys (we don’t even know why they are bad!) and throwing around big dialogues!

You know how every movie has a conflict which is the talking point of it? I did not get what the conflict of Shehzada is. Well, we can only hope the film has a lot more to offer than just the three-four things mentioned above. Matlab, he cannot only be a middle-class guy eating 10 eggs per day, falling in love, realising his father is not his real father and just going to live in a mansion that is now his new home!
