Sharmila was also aware of the fact that a lot of young women who wished to be loved the same way that Rannvijay loved Geetanjali (which is concerning on so many levels). She further added that any film which does the numbers that Animal did, it should not be taken lightly. You have to take a look at its impact and what the film is actually trying to say.

Many celebrities like Kiran Rao, Javed Akhtar, Adil Hussain and more have spoken about the concerning violence and misogyny in the film have raised their voices against the director for presenting such a film to the audience.

She says that the movie did good in theaters as the budgets were low, whereas an Animal’s budget was massive and it earned more than that also. Tagore believes that small films like Laapataa Ladies will surely earn back its investment but not in the numbers that a Ranbir Kapoor or a Ranveer Singh film might.
