Ashneer Grover’s Wife Just Wore A Dress Designed By A Shark Tank Contestant That Grover Had Rejected. The Irony!
Ever since I heard that Shark Tank India was going to air, I couldn’t control my excitement. It meant that a lot of aspiring entrepreneurs could have a real shot at making it big and we could all be a part of their journey. And ever since it has aired, there is one thing that I did not expect in abundance from the show is sheer entertainment. Most of which according to me comes from one of the sharks – Ashneer Grover. Known for his rude and harsh criticism, he’s made quite the impression on the viewers – so much so that he has even inspired various memes. But the best of all was the one made by a Shark Tank India contestant – Niti Singhal. The fashion designer who recently took a dig at him using one of his own lines.

The first season of Shark Tank India came to an end on February 4th, following which one of the contestants, Niti Singhal, in an interview with Hindustan Times, says that she’s used to hearing harsh criticism for her products so nothing on the show really rattled her. Having said that, she agreed that no one had ever been as harsh in their criticism as Ashneer Grover.

Niti Singhal was one of the 198 entrepreneurs who got to pitch their ideas on Shark Tank India but also was amongst those who got the worst of Ashneer Grover. The fashion designer creates clothes that are convertible and reversible. While in the middle of her pitch, Ashneer Grover cut her off and said, “It’s very bad fashion. I don’t think anyone will wear this. You should shut this down. Why are you wasting your time… Aap mummy ke saath baith ke lehenge bech loge toh do lakh ka bik jayega (If you sell a lehenga with your mother, it will sell for ₹two lakhs)”

In the interview, Niti Singhal says that with the kind of products she has been making she has gotten harsh, critical criticism before from people as well as mentors from the fashion industry. But nothing compared to that of the Shark Tank India judge. However, the one good thing about receiving all that criticism, according to Niti, is that she became more thick-skinned. She went on to say, “I believe in my product so I have the confidence to face all criticism. And in the end, any PR is good PR, even if people are talking bad about it.”

Niti Singhal further added that the channel that airs Shark Tank India actually cut the speech of Ashneer Grover in half. In reality, the shark actually ended up speaking twice. She also went on to say that the channel was sweet enough to edit it out but it isn’t like his comments would shut her business.

Funnily enough, Niti Singhal points out an irony when on Shark Tank India, Ashneer Grover said her clothes were impractical and no one from his family would wear them, but the matter of fact is that someone actually did. That someone was his own wife, Madhuri. She said, “On the show, Ashneer said, ‘Mere ghar me to tumhare kapde koi nahi pehenega’ (Nobody in my house will wear your clothes). But the funny thing is that his wife Madhuri was wearing the dress I gifted him on The Kapil Sharma Show. It’s kind of funny since he always says, ‘Yeh sab dogalapana hai’ but I was reminded of that line when I saw it.”

In fact, her company Twee In One also took a dig at Ashneer Grover from Shark Tank India in a video form. The caption read, “We love how @madsj30 look beautiful in our Twee dress at @tksshowofficial ! Thank you Madhuri, for believing in our work”

Honestly, seeing the turn of events my faith has been once again restored in the fact that don’t let anyone tell you what to do if you have faith in your idea. They might be more experienced than you, might have seen more of the world than you, etc. but they are not you nor do they know your idea the way you know it.
