Kudiye Ni Teri Song: Akshay Kumar, Mrunal Thakur Romancing On This Remake Is Erm… Awkward!

Good songs of any genre, romantic or party have become really rare. Well, it can be a subjective thing, however, not every time the same old recipe to create music will work for the audience. On that note, we have a new song from Akshay Kumar’s film Selfiee that also features Mrunal Thakur. The song is titled ‘Kudiye Ni Teri’ and is another upbeat, peppy remake of a Punjabi song. ‘Kudiye Ni Teri’ comes with a number of flaws and negatives, especially if you are tired of hearing and watching the same kind of music video in the name of party songs!

Selfiee starring Akshay Kumar and Mrunal Thakur has been directed by Raj Mehta and the first song from this film was released on February 9, Thursday. Honestly, it is quite an underwhelming remake of a Punjabi song PopheC. Tanishq Bagchi is the man behind recreating the song as ‘Kudiyee Ni Teri’. The lyrics are in Punjabi and have been given a different beat to it, of course matching the tone and vibe of the film. The choreography in the song by Prince Gupta is also…blah. The hook steps of the song might come out as weird to you and there is nothing new in the choreography that attracts your attention.

But also, let’s address the biggest failure in the song apart from all the aforementioned ones. The chemistry between the lead actors in ‘Kudiye Ni Teri’ is off big time!  Akshay Kumar is one B-Town actor who continues doing films with heroines much younger than him, and the major reason is definitely for commercial purposes. However, the fact that the audience no longer enjoys watching the actor romance with young actresses should be point noted by Khiladi Kumar. In the song ‘Kudiye Ni Teri’, the audience will not feel the connection with romantic scenes done by the lead duo because it lacks that chemistry and is rather awkward to watch. Just imagine, how we were drooling over Shraddha Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor’s jodi in ‘Tere Pyaar Mein’, Mrunal Thakur and Akshay Kumar’s jodi cannot deliver that in the song.

Selfiee will also have Imraan Hashmi and Diana Penty in pivotal roles, and the film is all set to release on February 24.
