Sameer Wankhede Denies Taking Multi-Crore Bribe In Drug Case Linked With Aryan Khan

Sameer Wankhede remains one of those people who will continue to dominate headlines. As per multiple media reports, he appeared before the Bombay High Court, saying that he had not taken any bribe from Shah Rukh Khan and mentioned that someone else was responsible. The former NCB officer appeared before the court on Monday, March 23. Read on and know all the details about the same below!

What Did Sameer Wankhede Say Exactly In Court?

Sameer Wankhede addressed the allegation that linked him to a Rs 25 crore bribe demanded in the 2021 drugs case that involved Aryan Khan’s name. The former NCB officer’s counsel, Aabad Ponda, stated that it was never him who had demanded or taken any bribe and it was someone else and that even the CBI’s case didn’t directly attribute the claimed payment to the former NCB officer.

While asking the defence to prove why the FIR should be quashed, Chief Justice Shree Chandrashekhar and Justice Suman Shyam stated the problem wasn’t whether the chargesheet was filed or not but whether there is material in the case. For the unversed, back in 2023, Sameer Wankhede asked to quash the CBI FIR against him. As of now, this matter is being investigated, and no chargesheet has been filed so far.

More Details

The FIR report mentioned that Rs 25 crore was claimed to be sought from Aryan Khan’s father Shah Rukh Khan, so that his name would not be dragged into the case. Aabad Ponda mentioned that the bribery accusation was separate from the other case that involved Sameer Wankhede, which also involved those in relation to disproportionate assets.

The bribery case is related to the 2021 matter where Aryan Khan was arrested in the Cordelia cruise case. Although he didn’t possess any dr*gs, he was travelling with an individual who allegedly had a small quantity. Later, phone chats were found that hinted at past substance consumptions which was why he was booked.
