Here’s Why Ranveer Singh Has An Edge Over Ranbir Kapoor!

The debate around who is the better actor between Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh has been going around on social media. This comes after the latter earned praises for his performance in the latest Aditya Dhar directorial Dhurandhar: The Revenge. Generally, everyone has their favourite from the two. Through this article, we are going to discuss their filmography in depth to understand who in fact is the better actor. Or are both on par with each other? Well, read on!

Basics

Ranbir Kapoor started his acting career in 2007 with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariya and Ranveer Singh’s acting journey kickstarted in 2010 with Band Baaja Baarat, directed by Maneesh Sharma. RK has done over 33 films whereas RS has done around 32 films.

Movies

Ranbir Kapoor is known for films like Barfi, Rockstar, Animal, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, and Brahmastra. On the other hand, Ranveer Singh’s popular films include-  Dhurandhar, Padmaavat, Ramleela, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaan, and Gully Boy.

Not Commercial Success!

While the above-mentioned films are all box-office successes that gave the actors’ more fan-following and appreciation for their craft, there are some not-so-popular films in which Ranbir and Ranveer did not compromise on the dedication towards their craft. For Ranbir Kapoor, the list includes films like Rocket Singh, Tamasha, Jagga Jasoos and Anjaana Anjaani. Ranveer Singh’s performance was memorable in films like Jayeshbhai Jordar, Lootera, 83 and Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl.

Acting Graph

It would be unfair to pick any one of them in this category. Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh, both have effortlessly handled the nuances of their character multiple times. Whether it’s RK in Rockstar, or RS as Khilji, or very latest, his transition from Hamza to Jaskirat in Dhurandhar. The facial expressions, the body language, and the dialogue delivery, both the actors tick these checkboxes. There performances were impactful even in films where the storytelling or direction did not work.

Range!

RS and RK have always selected films that are challenging, and they never step back from experimenting. Their filmography is proof!

Verdict!

Well, Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh, both have their individual standing as an actor in the Indian film industry, and each of them is equally convincing in the roles they pick. However, my personal favourite is Ranveer Singh. Since his very first film, RS has shows great potential as an actor. Whether it’s a middle class, very relatable Delhi boy character or royalty in Bajirao Mastani, the actor never misses an opportunity to leave us in awe of his performance, and also seamlessly transitions into any character that the script demands. Whereas Ranbir Kapoor has occasionally  fumbled in certain roles.

Even in selecting genres, Ranveer Singh has a more appealing list than Ranbir Kapoor. I would pick Lootera any day to praise about the actor’s exceptional way of conveying nuanced emotions through subtle expressions. But at the same time, we can never get bored of his guirky andaaz in light-hearted movies like Dil Dhadakne Do. From rom-coms to period dramas, to rapper in Gully Boy, the man can nail any genre and how! Which also makes me want to say, I’d happily rewatch his films just for the fun of it!

While this seems to be a never-ending debate and rightly so, we have made our pick!
