Kapil Sharma Warned Samay Raina Before Latent Controversy

In the episode, hosted by Kapil Sharma, Samay Raina recalled that the day before his show India’s Got Latent shut down, Kapil had called him and told him that “something bad is going to happen to you.” The host clarified this further, saying that he asked Samay to be careful now as he was in the limelight. Kapil mentioned that whatever he said to him was derived from his own experiences and that he was not a clairvoyant. The show host also said that one can be famous by saying anything but one can’t just say anything after becoming famous.

In the episode, the stand-up comedian also recalled how Kapil called him when the controversy erupted. Samay mentioned that the host was the first person to call him at the time. He playfully expressed not knowing whether it was a concern or an insult and reflected Kapil telling him, “Samay, just like your good days got over, your bad days will be over soon too.”

Samay Raina’s Stand-Up Special

A year after the Latent controversy, Samay Raina marked his comeback with a stand-up special, Still Alive. It remains one of the most-watched videos on YouTube. In it, the stand-up comedian mentioned the question that Ranveer Allahbadia had asked in India’s Got Latent episode. Samay reflected that the question did not align with the image he had created for himself on social media. Additionally, he also stated that Ranveer had asked that question eight times during the show.

For the unaware, after the said episode involving Samay and Ranveer was uploaded on YouTube last year, legal actions involving FIRs were filed against the show, and they garnered an immense amount of backlash.
