On Thursday, 24 February the President of Russia Vladimir Putin ordered the invasion of Ukraine. While the Russian-Ukraine conflict has been going on since 2014, everything seems to have taken a drastic turn suddenly after Putin stated that the invasion is aimed at ‘demilitarisation’ of Ukraine but they have no plans to occupy the country. This move came in response to several threats from the country. This move might just be the beginning of World War III. As the layers of the Russia-Ukraine conflict continue to unfold, several celebrities have taken to social media to express their thoughts on the matter including Richa Chadha, Tillotama Shome and Cardi B.
Expressing her worry for her mother who is battling cancer amid the Covid-19 pandemic, Tillotama Shome shared that her brain is unable to comprehend how things will be like for cancer patients and families if World War III breaks out following the Russian-Ukraine conflict. She went on to add, “Nothing absolutely nothing is uglier than war. Mothers don’t give life for war.”
