Rashami Desai, a well-known actress who gained fame through her role in the TV series Uttaran, has had a career that spans across Assamese cinema, Bhojpuri films, and Hindi television. Despite her professional accomplishments, Rashami’s personal life has not been without its challenges, particularly following her divorce from Uttaran co-star Nandish Sandhu.

Rashami Desai On Her Post-Divorce Struggles

In an interview with ETimes, Rashami Desai discussed the difficulties she faced after ending her marriage. Realizing early on that her marriage was a mistake, she chose to leave, prioritizing her own mental and emotional well-being. However, the aftermath of the divorce was financially devastating. Rashami found herself in significant debt, owing Rs 3.25 crores, largely due to a loan of Rs 2.5 crores she had taken to purchase a house. The financial strain was so severe that she ended up losing her home and had to live in her car for a period. The stress from these financial woes led to a deep depression, further compounding her struggles.

Her relationship challenges didn’t end with her divorce. Rashami also spoke about her tumultuous relationship with Arhaan Khan, who proposed to her during their stint on Bigg Boss 13. Reflecting on this period, Rashami expressed relief that the truth about their relationship came out publicly, despite the emotional turmoil it caused her. She found solace in the support from Salman Khan and new friends made during the show, which helped her navigate through these tough times. Despite facing judgment from some people, she chose not to harbour any complaints.

Professionally, Rashami’s career continued to soar despite her personal struggles. She was consistently among India’s highest-paid TV actresses in 2013, 2014, and 2018. She also became the highest-paid contestant on Bigg Boss 13 and Bigg Boss 15. In 2020, Rashami achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first Indian TV actor to collaborate with Google for cameos, and she was ranked 22nd on BizAsia’s top 30 TV Personalities list.
