Fans’ anticipation to watch Ramayana starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Yash and more is through the roof. However, amid this, some have found themselves calling out the makers for casting Ranbir as Lord Rama, as they felt the actor was a misfit to play the role. Now, as the chatter grew, he finally addressed it and stated that there was no actor who was “right” to portray the said role. Know what he shared in detail!
Ranbir Kapoor Addresses Ramayana Casting Criticism
While attending the San Diego Comic-Con, Ranbir Kapoor was reportedly asked about his first thought after being offered the role of Lord Rama in Ramayana. He stated that the first question that popped into his head was, “Am I worthy? Am I the right person, and why am I being gifted this responsibility to not play Lord Rama but represent him?” He stated that very soon, one understands the value, the responsibility and the noble intention of the filmmakers to present the story, which has been relevant for 4,000 years. The actor highlighted that it’s deeply ingrained in our subconscious, so according to him, there is no “right actor” to play the said role. He also added that the people who have watched Ramayana have their own interpretation of Lord Rama and that there is no fixed face to it. He stated that some people will think that he is the “wrong casting”, while others might think that he is the right choice. However, Ranbir stated that the right casting for Lord Rama would be any actor who has the “right intentions”, belief and faith in the journey of Lord Rama.

Yash Praises Ranbir Kapoor
During the said event, Yash reportedly praised Ranbir Kapoor and stated that the way he has done it is “marvellous. He revealed that the Wake Up Sid star had worked very hard, and when one watches Ramayana, they will witness a beautiful portrayal of Lord Rama filled with intent and sacrifice.
Apart from the aforementioned actors, Ramayana also stars Rakul Preet Singh, Kajal Agagrwal, Sunny Deol, Vivek Oberoi and more! The film’s first part is slated to be released during Diwali 2026!
