The first look of Rajkummar Rao’s next film, which is a sports biopic called Dada- The Sourav Ganguly Story, has become the talk of the town. Based on the life of the former Indian cricket captain, this poster received some mixed reactions on social media with fans being divided. While some have liked this adaptation of his journey, others are not convinced  with the actor’s appearance as the cricketer. Read to know more about it here.

Social Media Reacts To Dada- The Sourav Ganguly Story

Many users took to their X (Previously Twitter) account and appreciated Rajkummar Rao as Sourav Ganguly in the poster. They appreciated the makers to recreate the ultimate “shirtless  look” of the cricketer waving his jersey from the balcony of Lord’s stadium after the 2002 NatWest series victory. This was the perfect “first impression” as per them as this was a monumental moment in his career. Others praised the actor for going all out as Sourav in this biopic and presenting a different avatar on the big screens. The fans stated that if this was done right, this would make it one of his best performances of his career and that they were really excited to see what was in the box for them.

But not everyone had the same thoughts about this poster as they started criticising the very “edited” posted of Rajkummar Rao. They stated that the first impression looked “AI” and that Rao did not look very convincing as the legendary player Sourav Ganguly. Many even went on to call him a “miscast” in this project. The makers unveiled the first look of this biopic on Ganguly’s birthday and will release on May 14, 2027. It is directed by Vikramaditya Motwane and produced by Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg.
